FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Riverdale Police Department Provides Clarification Regarding Inspection of Shell Gas Station
The Riverdale Police Department would like to provide clarification regarding a recent inspection conducted at the Shell Gas Station located at 36 Route 23 North, Riverdale, New Jersey.
The Morris County Division of Weights and Measures recently conducted a comprehensive
inspection of the fuel dispensing equipment at the gas station. Members of the Riverdale Police Department were present and observed the inspection process.
During the inspection, questions were raised concerning three separate fuel dispensers that each contained screws near the area where the fuel nozzle is secured when not in use. The screws were observed securing plastic components of the dispenser housing.
The Morris County Division of Weights and Measures determined that the plastic nozzle holder assemblies on the three dispensers had previously become damaged and that the screws were installed by the certified dispenser technician as part of an approved repair to secure the plastic components in place. Officials confirmed that the screws were not connected to, nor did they affect, the operation, accuracy, or integrity of the fuel dispensing systems.
Upon completion of the inspection, the Morris County Division of Weights and Measures found all fuel dispensing equipment to be operating properly and in compliance with all applicable standards and regulations. No evidence of tampering, fraud, or violations was identified.
The Riverdale Police Department appreciates the diligence of the Morris County Division of
Weights and Measures in conducting the inspection and providing clarification regarding the repairs. The Department remains committed to addressing community concerns and ensuring public confidence in local businesses and consumer protection measures.
Respectfully,
Anthony Famularo
Lieutenant
Riverdale Police Department
