Because you have succeeded in moving beyond staying home as our primary goal, Illinois’ stay at home order is coming to an end.
In Phase 3, our Community Recovery Order reflects our new, more open reality while continuing critical public health measures to keep everyone safe.
Under the Community Recovery Order, we are still limiting gatherings to 10 or fewer people for all groups as well as continuing other mitigation practices, such as maintaining social distance and wearing a face covering in public by all who are able.
In addition to extending the necessary legal mechanisms, like our disaster proclamation, I'm also extending our ban on residential evictions, moratorium on utility shut-offs and suspension on repossession of vehicles. It’s more important than ever to support our working families.
The journey to this point has seemed very long – and unfortunately, the journey is far from over.
While the virus is still out there and it’s still dangerous, here’s what’s different:
We moved quickly in March, and over many weeks, we flattened the curve and prevented unimaginable suffering.
Not me and Dr. Ezike – all of you.
Millions of Illinoisans doing the right thing for their communities – choosing to be All In for their neighbors, family and friends.
Because of your commitment to being :
Illinois averages nearly 250 fewer covid patients in intensive care than we were four weeks ago – a 20% decrease.
We also average nearly 40 fewer covid-related deaths per day than we were just two weeks ago – a 32% decrease.
As we take our next step forward, and especially as we begin to safely reopen meaningful swaths of our economy, we have to continue to look out for each other.
Our number one priority must be the health and safety of workers, families and all our state’s residents.

Mayor Lawrence L. Jackson and the Village Board are providing Community "Flood" Dumpsters to assist residents who were impacted by the recent unprecedented weather event. These are to be used for any items that were irretrievably damaged from the flooding. The dumpsters should not be used for your regular weekly household trash. Dumpster location to follow.

Important information regarding child care.

Every region of Illinois appears to be on track to move into Phase 3 of Restore Illinois next Friday.

But we can’t have a conversation about going back to work without talking about child care.

So today, we released guidance to safely reopen child care: https://www2.illinois.gov/Pages/news-item.aspx?ReleaseID=21577

We gathered input from over 80 stakeholders from all around the state on everything from new health and sanitation protocols, to staff training needs, to what supports families will need as they return to child care.

Their insights are reflected in the plan that my administration is issuing today, shaping our roadmap for safely increasing access to child care as parents return to work.
