In response to ongoing power outages following recent severe storms, The Department is activating emergency weather center and cooling centers across the county today and tomorrow to provide residents with access to a cool, comfortable environment while power is being restored.

Three M-NCPPC facilities will operate as Emergency Weather Centers from 8 am to 8 pm today and tomorrow:

⚠️ Langley Park Community Center
⚠️ Palmer Park Community Center
⚠️ Upper Marlboro Community Center

The Department will continue to monitor storm-related impacts and assess conditions to determine the need for continued cooling center operations and any additional resources for residents.

The following parks and facilities are currently closed due to storm-related impacts:
⚠️ Watkins Regional Park
⚠️Cedar Heights Community Center
⚠️ Cedar Park Heights Park
⚠️ J. Franklyn Bourne Memorial Pool
⚠️ Riversdale House Museum – closed through Sunday, September 6, 2026

Following the recent severe storm that impacted the region, The Department is assessing damage to parks, trails, and recreational facilities. As a result, certain parks and facilities are currently closed to ensure public safety and allow staff to conduct inspections, cleanup, and repairs.
