MST units were dispatched to a reported unknown type fire in the 500 block of Beard Ave, which was upgraded to a residential structure fire while crews were en route.

Upon arrival, units discovered a large commercial structure well involved to the rear of a residential property. Due to the volume of fire and extent of involvement, a second alarm was requested. Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack, deploying multiple handlines to control the spread of the fire. Their efforts successfully stopped the forward progress and prevented extension beyond the involved structures.

Due to significant structural damage and unsafe interior conditions, a ladder truck was utilized to access and extinguish fire in areas inaccessible to firefighters operating on the ground.

The fire was brought under control in approximately two hours and was contained to the original property.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by the Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit.

On April 6, 2026, at 2:49 a.m., MST units were dispatched to the 600 block of Mariposa Road for a reported commercial working structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews encountered a fully involved commercial building with heavy fire conditions throughout. Due to the significant fire involvement and the immediate threat posed to a nearby pallet yard, personnel quickly transitioned to a defensive strategy to limit fire spread and protect surrounding exposures.

Firefighters deployed multiple hand lines and worked to contain the fire to the original structure while preventing extension to adjacent properties. Crews remained on scene for several hours conducting suppression operations and overhaul.

A total of six engines, two quints, two Battalion Chiefs, and the Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit responded to the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Not every call is an emergency.

Today, firefighters from Station 22 assisted Empire Elementary School with a unique request after a drone became stuck in a tree during a promotional video showcasing the school. Crews used the aerial ladder to safely retrieve the drone and return it to the principal.

While not pictured, the Pre-K class enjoyed a front-row view of the operation—proof that even routine calls can make for memorable moments in the community.

Calls like this are not common but they are a great opportunity to use the skills and tools available to us to assist one of our local schools.
