"The Beast"
Deep in the shadows
Alone in the cold
The nightmare begins
The horror unfolds
Born out of darkness
By the master of death
It crawls through night
Devours with its breath
It feeds on ignorance
And lives off of fear
It slows down for none
And stops for no tears
It feels not for the poor
Cares not for the old
It loves not the children
And fears not the bold
It backs down for none
And fights all who dare
To test out its might
And enter its lair
If not for those few,
Who fear not the Beast
It would conquer the world
With all as its feast
They face the dragons
That ravish the lands
Armed not with swords
But courage and hands
They are the heroes
That arrive in the night
Upon their chariots
Covered with light
They rescue the prisoners
Held in the grasp
Of the ruler of hell
The devil in mask
When the dragon is dead
And all is well again
They remount their chariots
Simply as men
They ride off in the night
As swift as they came
To battle another
Beast of the flame

I'm a little late getting this posted: The burn ban for Cleveland County was lifted. HOWEVER, conditions are still elevated. So please us caution if burning any piles. Keep water near by and don't leave it unintended. Also keep in mind that you can always reach out to us. If you have a pile, we can schedule a time to come safely burn it for you. Thank you.

Been away and unable to post for a bit. But, have a few updates.
Yesterday morning, Rison and Hwy35 S responded to a house fire on Liberty Road. I was told they responded quick and got it knocked out. Both departments have some awesome people.

Also important news. Starting 8AM Thursday morning we will be under a Burn Ban for the county. Conditions are getting high for fire risks so we will be under a Burn Ban until we get some significant rain. I realize nicer weather has arrived, but hold off on burning any piles right now.

We are looking at doing some activities that not only help people within our district, but by doing so helps our department. With the storms we've had and some still to come, we are looking for people who may have limbs down or brush that needs to be burned or gathered up and burned. Yes, I do realize most of us have always simply burned piles on our own. However, if we can get people at times to allow the department to burn the pile for them, we can list it as a controlled burn activity as a community service or as a training event. Whether it be a burn pile or a small area needing to be burned off, all that helps us and helps you. The more active our department is, the better our chances at grants to better our department. Our goal is not to just keep a fire department going, but to continue to make it better which better helps the community.
So, please, make a note to place on your fridge or somewhere, and tell your neighbors about it. If ever have limbs or a burn pile built up that we can use as an activity, please reach out to us. Can message here, reach out to one of our members, or call / text me, Aaron Burcham at 870-820-4966.

Feb. 27 at 6:30pm we will be having a special meeting. We need as many of our members as possible to be there to help agree on our next Fire Chief. Passing the word both in the group text, on here, and will probably be making phone calls to everyone. So please, pass the word along.
ALSO: If anyone is interested in joining the Fire Dept, whether you are new to it all, or a past member, please feel free to be there or reach out to me. Soon, I have ideas that I will be doing to start actively recruiting.
Any members of our district that would like to come to the meeting to ask any questions, offer some suggestions, ect, please feel free to. One idea I personally have that I hope to soon make happen is to have either an annual or biannual type community meeting to allow people in our district to get updates about the fire service for their community and to ask questions and such.
Also potential of more cool things to come. Hopefully.

With this sleet and freezing rain, there are slick spots on the roads. Everyone be safe. From a latest weather update, there are more heavier rounds coming between now and Thursday. Call and make sure any elderly that you know are ok. All do remember, we are here for this community not just for fires.

01/15/2023

For any of our members that follow this page and are not on the text group -- I have postponed Monday nights Pump Operations class out of respect for our loss of Chief Hardy. In a week or two, I can get us a new date set.

End of Duty: Our Fire Chief, Hardy Herrington, has gone to be with the Angels. God called home one of the greatest men I've had the chance to know. He will definitely be deeply missed by so many.

Will be extremely cold tonight. If using any space heaters, be extra careful with them. Everyone stay warm.
