In honor of Black History Month, the Tracy African American Association brought together community and creativity by hosting local African American authors for live book readings with attendees.

It was a powerful day celebrating culture, storytelling, and the joy of literacy. Moments like these remind us that when we uplift all voices, we strengthen our entire community.

What a fantastic morning! I am truly humbled by the turnout at Ripon Coffee House yesterday morning. Not only did I get to connect with so many amazing individuals, but we collected 125 books that will be donated to Training Wheels Mobile Library! 📚

Thank you to everyone who joined us and thank you to RIpon Coffee House for hosting us. ☕️

I’m excited to see you all this Saturday for coffee (or cocoa) at Ripon Coffeehouse. ☕️

I also invite you to bring a book- new or gently used- to our event. All books collected Saturday morning will be donated to Training Wheels Mobile Library.

Early Literacy remains a top priority not only to my team, but to our fourteen local school districts, Delta College, and Teachers College of San Joaquin. Our combined goal is to champion literacy efforts in our county to ensure our students are able to read at grade level at the end of the third grade.

Your support is greatly appreciated! See you in 2 days! 📚

It is a privilege to serve San Joaquin County and to lead such an incredible team at the San Joaquin County Office of Education. The SJCOE is unlike any other organization — service is truly at the heart of everything we do.

My priorities include strengthening early literacy across the county, expanding access to outdoor learning and arts education, ensuring students graduate career-ready, and continuing to attract and develop top talent at the SJCOE to positively impact public education countywide.

This important work is made possible by the support of our community and those who believe in this vision. A heartfelt thank you to yesterday's luncheon sponsors. I am humbled and deeply grateful for your support in my re-election as County Superintendent of Schools.

Visiting with each of you, sharing about the work happening in education across the county and at the San Joaquin County Office of Education, and simply getting to be together was a special feeling.

I am honored to work with Jenn DeAngelo who was recognized by Representative Josh Harder for her work to prevent and fight human trafficking. In this new role at SJCOE she will have the opportunity to serve and support all of our districts in this effort. Thank you for tackling this horrific issue Jenn.

I have had the privilege to work with several amazing school leaders during my career. Greg Leland is one of those individuals. I watched as he helped build a positive culture and turn Lathrop High into a school students, staff, and families were proud of. Yesterday MUSD honored Greg by naming the Lathrop Gym after him. Congratulations Principal Leland.

Last Tuesday, I had the privilege to attend National Night Out in Stockton. National Night Out is held annually on the first Tuesday in August to promote community & law enforcement partnerships.

The SJCOE partners with Downtown Stockton Alliance, Main Street Youth & Family Services, and the Stockton Ports to provide the community the chance to connect with local agencies and enjoy a free baseball game. ⚾️

The best part of the night was meeting my new friend Makayla and watching her take the mound to throw one of the first pitches!

Looking forward to next year’s NNO block party with our partnering agencies.

I was truly honored to take part in the Speak Your Mind Ice Bucket Challenge for mental health awareness.

As educators and leaders, it’s vital that we continue to break the stigma and support the well-being of our students, staff, and community. Mental health matters—and today, I got a little soaked to help spread that message.
