Rick Jenkins Honored for 10 Years of Service at Retirement Celebration
Ripley, Tennessee – March 5, 2026 — The Ripley Gas, Water & Wastewater Department honored Wastewater Treatment Chief Operator in Charge Rick Jenkins during a retirement supper held Thursday evening, March 5, 2026, at Olympic Steak House.
Employees of the department gathered with Rick and his family to enjoy a meal together and recognize his 10 years of dedicated service to the City of Ripley. During the evening, friends, family, and co-workers expressed their appreciation for Rick’s commitment to maintaining the City’s wastewater treatment and sewer collection systems.
Throughout his time with the Ripley Gas, Water & Wastewater Department, Jenkins played a vital role in the daily operation and maintenance of the City’s wastewater infrastructure. His responsibilities included performing routine maintenance on more than 20 pump stations each day to ensure the sewer collection system operated properly. He also conducted scheduled maintenance on the Biological Lagoon equipment responsible for treating the City’s wastewater and carried out daily laboratory testing of treated effluent to ensure the lagoon treatment system met all state regulatory requirements.
“Rick’s dedication and hard work have been instrumental in protecting our community’s wastewater treatment operations,” department officials said. “We are grateful for his years of service and the professionalism he brought to his role each day.”
While coworkers say they will miss Rick’s experience and leadership, they join together in celebrating his retirement and the many contributions he made during his career.
