South Ripley assisted with a crew of 7. We were able to man and send crews in T-271, A-271, and E-273. Members assisted with various duties including cleaning up the equipment at scene.

South Ripley members assisted Sherman with a garage fire last night. Members battled the fire with temperatures close to 0°.

What a snowy day it is!
With the old man winter giving us a lovely slap in the face here are some tips and other info!

❄️ Do NOT travel unless necessary today. I-90 is now shut down from Fredonia to Ohio.

❄️ Make sure all heating pipes are clear of snow now and in the next few days.

☃️ Make sure if you do have to go out you are dressed properly!

DO NOT BURN!
If you haven’t noticed there have been a high number of wildland fires within our area. The conditions are right for any open fire to spread to surrounding brush or residents.

A HUGE congratulations to Casey! Becoming a paramedic is tough work, but we knew you could do it!

Congratulations to our Ambulance Captain, Casey Dickinson, for passing his NREMT Paramedic certification test! His has achieved his goal of becoming a Paramedic! We are so proud that Casey is a member of Ripley Hose! Congratulations on such an incredible accomplishment, Captain Dickinson! We are proud of you!

To become a paramedic in New York State, you must meet the following requirements:

Complete an EMT-Basic certification
Complete a paramedic training program, which can take 6 months to 2 years.

Pass the NREMT exam.

Obtain state licensure.

Paramedic training programs must include a minimum of: 600 classroom hours, 560 hospital clinical hours, and 440 hours of ambulance ride time.
Paramedics must also be able to perform advanced cardiac life support and basic trauma life support, and know how to use a defibrillator and administer drugs and fluids intravenously.

C-274 onboard E-273 and C-281 were the first on scene and were able to extinguish the fire before it threatened the structure. C-272 arrived soon after along with Sherman’s equipment and continued to assist.
