To the Citizens of Ripley and Lauderdale County,
As we monitor the potential for incoming severe weather in our area, I want to assure you that the Ripley Fire Department is actively preparing and closely coordinating with local and county emergency management officials.
While forecasts can change, current models indicate the possibility of strong storms that may include heavy rainfall, high winds, and localized flooding. Now is the time to review your emergency plans and take precautionary steps to keep your family safe.
We encourage all residents to:
• Stay weather aware and monitor trusted local weather sources
• Ensure you have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts
• Secure outdoor furniture and loose items
• Charge mobile devices and have flashlights ready
• Avoid traveling during severe conditions if possible
If warnings are issued, please take them seriously. Your safety is our top priority. Our crews are prepared to respond, but prevention and preparedness make all the difference.
We ask that you do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways and avoid downed power lines. If you encounter an emergency, dial 911 immediately.
The strength of our community is shown in times like these. Please check on elderly neighbors and those who may need assistance.
We will continue providing updates as information becomes available.
Stay safe,
Chief Tracey Worlds
Ripley Fire Department
