Highlights from the RGC H-E-B 20th Anniversary Celebration.

On Saturday, September 12, Rio Grande City H-E-B celebrated their 20 Year Anniversary.

Mayor Gilberto Falcon took the opportunity to presente with a congratulatory signed and sealed City of RGC Certificate that read “Congratulations on your 20 Year Anniversary. Wishing you continued success for many years to come”.

They also presented the Rio Grande City Grulla ISD with a generous donation of ten thousand dollars.

Many current and former H-E-B partners were invited to the podium to remark on their experiences, all of which were glowing reviews.

On behalf of the City of Rio Grande City Commission , administration and staff ñ, we would like to once again congratulate H-E-B of Rio Grande City on their 20 Year Anniversary at their current location, and their 48 years in Rio Grande City.

TRAFFIC ALERT/RIO GRANDE CITY–Nighttime milling and paving operations are planned on US 83 in Rio Grande City beginning Sunday, Sept. 13, and continuing through Thursday, Sept. 17. The work will continue for approximately four weeks between Charco Blanco Road and Fairgrounds Road.

Drivers will encounter temporary lane closures and possible delays along this major corridor through downtown Rio Grande City while crews are working.

Digital message boards will be activated to remind motorists of the planned paving work.

On this 25th anniversary of the day that changed our country forever, we pause to remember, honor, and unite.

We remember the lives lost, the families and loved ones whose lives were forever changed, and the first responders who bravely rushed in.

Twenty-five years later, we remain strengthened by the courage, compassion, and unity shown that day—and by what we are capable of when we stand together.

We will never forget September 11, 2001.

Everyone who pre-registered for the 2026 Rio Grande City 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb was automatically entered. These tickets were donated by First Responders Children’s Foundation.

September 11, 2001 — 25 years later, we remember. 🇺🇸
Twenty-five years have passed since our nation witnessed an unimaginable tragedy. But we will never forget the 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers, and countless others who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

On Saturday, the City of Rio Grande City Fire held its first-ever Memorial Stair Climb. As our members climbed, we carried with us the names, stories, courage, and sacrifice of those who climbed the stairs of the World Trade Center 25 years ago, many never to return home.

Every step was a reminder that we have a responsibility to remember, to honor, and to never forget.

Today, we pause to honor the 343 members of the FDNY and all the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away. We remember their families, their brothers and sisters in service, and the thousands whose lives were forever changed that day.

From Rio Grande City to New York City, the bond of the fire service knows no distance.

25 years later, we remember their courage.
25 years later, we honor their sacrifice.
25 years later, we will never forget.

🫑🍉 On Thursday, September 10, the City of Rio Grande City held a Free Produce Distribution Event at Fort Ringgold. Over 200 family were served. 🍅

The Rio Grande City Food Pantry, in partnership with Rio Grande City Crime Stoppers and the South Texas Food Bank, distributed bell peppers, tomatoes, and watermelon.

Healthy communities, stronger together!
