The La Rosita Volunteer Fire Department and Starr County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to a reported structure fire on N Suntex at approximately 4:00 pm today. Upon arrival, the crew found a shed on fire near the residence. Thanks to a swift response with all apparatus and personnel, the fire was confined to the shed, and no damage was sustained to the residence.

🚨 Emergency Management Department Update 🚨

The Emergency Management Department is monitoring the potential for another round of strong to severe thunderstorms late tonight into tomorrow morning across portions of Deep South Texas.

Storms may develop near or after midnight across our far western counties, including Starr, Zapata, and Jim Hogg Counties, with activity expected to move closer to coastal areas during the early morning commute tomorrow.

The primary threat associated with any severe storms will be damaging wind gusts.

Residents are encouraged to stay weather aware, monitor local forecasts, and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.

Stay informed. Stay prepared. Stay safe.
