🚑❤️ The Rio Dell Police Department and the Rio Dell Volunteer Fire Department are proud to partner together to bring the File of Life program to our community — completely FREE of charge!

The File of Life is a simple but incredibly important tool designed to help EMS and first responders provide faster, more effective medical care during emergencies. The form contains critical medical information such as:
• Medications
• Allergies
• Medical conditions
• Emergency contacts
• Physician information
• Insurance information
• DNR/medical directive information

Participants complete the form and place it in a visible location on their refrigerator, with the red File of Life magnet on the outside of the fridge to alert responding personnel that important medical information is inside.

⏱️ During a medical emergency, every second matters. Having this information immediately available reduces the time EMS personnel spend asking questions and searching for medical history — allowing them to begin appropriate treatment faster and provide better care when it matters most.

This program is especially beneficial for:
✔️ Seniors
✔️ Individuals with medical conditions
✔️ Residents taking multiple medications
✔️ Anyone who wants to be prepared in an emergency

📍 File of Life packets can now be picked up FREE at:
• Rio Dell Volunteer Fire Department
• Rio Dell Community Resource Center
• Rio Dell Police Department

🇪🇸 Spanish versions are also available.

We are proud to work together with our community partners to provide another important service focused on protecting the health and safety of our residents. 🚒👮‍♂️❤️

Measure Z Update

Over the last quarter, the Rio Dell Police Department’s Measure Z-funded Community Service Officer (CSO) position has continued to provide measurable impact in our community. Measure Z currently funds one of our two CSO positions, allowing us to significantly expand our ability to address quality-of-life issues citywide.

From January 1, 2026 through March 31, 2026, our CSOs handled 271 calls for service and completed a wide range of community-focused activities, including:

🏠 Residential Abatement Projects Completed:

• 500 block of First Avenue – three 40-yard dumpsters filled
• 300 block of Second Avenue – two 40-yard dumpsters filled
• 400 block of Fourth Avenue – one 30-yard dumpster filled
• 100 block of Douglas Street – one 40-yard dumpster filled
• 500 block of Third Avenue – one 40-yard dumpster filled

🚗 Vehicular Abatement:

• 34 total cases addressed
• 15 vehicles towed

🐾 Animal Services:

• 7 dogs, 2 cats, and 9 ducks transported to Miranda’s with numerous other animals reunited with owners without transport.

In addition to these completed abatements, the 271 calls for service reflect numerous other locations and issues where our CSOs worked directly with property owners to gain voluntary compliance.

In many cases, problems were resolved without the need for formal abatement, saving time, reducing costs, and fostering cooperative relationships within the community.

Beyond field enforcement, our CSOs have also played a key role in strengthening city operations by:
• Streamlining records retention processes
• Improving animal licensing compliance
• Supporting the Rental Housing Inspection Program
• Conducting community outreach and engagement

Through these efforts, Measure Z funding has made a direct difference by supporting cleaner neighborhoods, reduced blight, improved efficiency in city services, increased responsiveness to community concerns, and enhanced overall quality of life in Rio Dell.

We appreciate the continued support of Measure Z in helping us serve our community.

We’ve recently received an increase in complaints about dog f***s being left on sidewalks around town.

We love our pets—and we love our community—so we’re asking for everyone’s help. Please be courteous and pick up after your animals when out for walks. Keeping our sidewalks clean helps make Rio Dell safer, healthier, and more pleasant for everyone, including kids, neighbors, and fellow dog owners.
