GACD is pleased to be partnering with Pierce County High School and their agriculture students again. The group has begun laying down the black plastic to get the pollinator habitat started. These are the first steps to get the pollinator habit on the way. DPA, Brenda Harvey is shown presenting the students of Glyndale Elementary the book, “ Protect the Pollinators” for their Media Center along with Coloring Books for each of the Kindergarten Classes. The annual National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) Photo Contest promotes conservation education to students in grades K through 12th. The first place winner of NACD’s Photo Contest is Nancy Murray from Folkston, Ga. Nancy is a 10th grader at Charlton County High School. Her winning photo of a beaver dam is titled, “All Backed Up”. Nancy was also the winner of GACD’s state photo contest, and the winner of Satilla River Conservation District’s local photo contest.

We are excited to share our partnership with Pierce County High School and their Agriculture Students. This group planted a Pollinator Demo Garden at the Pierce County High School in Blackshear, Ga. The demo garden is sponsored by Satilla River SWCD and GACD from the pollinator initiative program. The demo garden provides an awesome hands-on learning experience as well as builds an understanding of the importance of Pollinators in our environment. We are elated to share our partnership with the Chapel Ministries with a Pollinator Garden. Our Pollinator Demo Garden was planted at the Chapel Ministries in Brunswick, Ga. The demo Garden is sponsored by Satilla River SWCD and Georgia Association of Conservation Districts (GACD) from the Pollinator Initiative Program. The demo garden provides an awesome learning and awareness opportunity for the public to understand the importance of pollinators in our environment. The Glynn County Forest Landowner meeting tour was held at Altama Plantation on Thursday Nov. 21st. There was on Overview and history of the plantation, Coastal Resiliency update, Gopher tortoise habitat, forest management, a prescribed fire in young longleaf, and much more. Coast Fest was a huge success this year! There was around 12,500 people in attendance. Thanks so much to Amy Robinson, Brenda Harvey, Kaitlin Mcclellan, NancyAnne Conner, Amy Bell, Ron Sadowski, and Billy Mitchell for working in our booth at Mary Ross Park in Brunswick. We distributed Posters. Stickers, Tattoos, Bookmarks, teacher educational packets and more. It was a fun filled day for everyone involved.
