Happy EMS Week to the crew that somehow survives on caffeine, gas station food, dark humor, and very little sleep. 😂
In all seriousness though… this week is about recognizing the people behind the radio traffic, ambulance lights, late-night calls, missed holidays, interrupted dinners, and long transports down the canyon at 2 AM. But 3 AM Vinegar Creek calls are absolutely the best.
To our EMTs, Paramedics, drivers, volunteers, dispatchers, and everyone who helps keep this thing running — thank you. Seriously, thank you.
Small town and rural EMS is different. There’s no hiding behind a big system here. These crews take care of their neighbors, friends, coworkers, family members, and sometimes complete strangers having the worst day of their life. They show up in the middle of the night, in bad weather, during chaos, and somehow still manage to joke around at the station the next morning like nothing major just happened.
People see the ambulance driving around town, but they don’t always see the sacrifices behind it. The trainings after work. The interrupted sleep. The missed birthdays. The emotional calls that stick with you long after shift change. The constant balancing act of family, work, and serving the community. It’s hard.
The Riggins crew works incredibly hard to make our community safer and stronger, and I hope they know it does not go unnoticed.
I’m proud of what this department has become and even more proud of the people behind it. We’ve built something special together.
So this EMS Week, make sure you thank an EMT or Paramedic. They probably won’t know how to respond to compliments and will make an awkward joke about it… but it means more than you know. ❤️🚑
I love our crew. Our bond is stronger than any other crew out there.
I have the best job in the world.
