PART-TIME PARAMEDIC

Position Overview:
Central Fire District is seeking dedicated and qualified individuals to join our team as a Part-Time Paramedic. As we transition into operating our Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance service, this is an exciting opportunity to serve the community, respond to a variety of emergency incidents, and be part of a committed and professional fire service team.

Primary Job Duties:
• Respond to medical emergencies as part of an ALS system.
• Follow department policies and comply with state and local laws and operational protocols.
• Conduct daily maintenance on apparatus, equipment, and facilities.
• Monitor radio communications and maintain accurate incident documentation.
• Support ongoing training and certification as required by department leadership.

Application & Selection Process:
Candidates must complete the full hiring process, which includes:
1. Written EMS Exam
2. EMS Physical Agility Test
3. Administrative Interview
4. Medical Exam & Drug Screening
5. Comprehensive Background Check

Salary & Benefits:
• Compensation: Daily stipend. Equated to $25.00 an hour.
• Retirement: PERSI Retirement Contributions
• Schedule: 24-hour shifts.

Minimum Qualifications:
• 18+ years of age
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Paramedic
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Idaho driver's license
• Current NREMT Paramedic certification
Additional Expectations:
• Must be competent in report writing and documentation.
• Attend scheduled EMS drills to maintain CEU hours and crew cohesion.
• Assist with station training as needed.

• Conduct daily maintenance on apparatus, equipment, and facilities
• Participate in fire prevention inspections, public education, and outreach events
• Monitor radio communications and maintain accurate incident documentation
• Support ongoing training and certification as required by department leadership

Candidates must complete the full hiring process, which includes:
1. Written Public Service Entrance Exam
(Subjects include Reading Comprehension, Math, English, Spelling, Sentence Structure, and Essay)
2. Physical Agility Test
3. Panel Interview
4. Medical Exam & Drug Screening
5. Comprehensive Background Check

Salary & Benefits:
• Annual Pay: $54,000
• Retirement: PERSI Retirement Plan
• Schedule: 48/96 shift schedule

Minimum Qualifications:
• 18+ years of age
• Minimum of 6 months fire service experience
• High School diploma or GED
• Valid Idaho Driver's License
• Current NREMT EMT or Paramedic License
Additional Expectations:
• Must obtain IFSAC Firefighter I Certification within 12 months of hire
• Participation in continuing education IFSAC certifications.
• Attend scheduled EMS/Fire drills to maintain CEU hours and crew cohesiveness.
• Assist with Station training as needed.

The Jefferson Central Ambulance District Commission will be meeting on Wednesday, September 2, at 9:00 a.m. at Rigby Fire Station 1: 697 Annis Highway.

UPDATE, Friday, August 14 — The Heise road east of the Heise Bridge is OPEN this morning. Although the slopes have stabilized, additional rain and debris flow are possible. Please use extreme caution and report instances of mud flow to Jefferson County dispatch at 208-745-9210. The gravel road to the west of the bridge (Cress Creek access) remains closed.

⚠️ HEISE ROAD CLOSURE & SAFETY UPDATE⚠️

Heise Road is closed at the Snake River Bridge on 5050 E due to heavy rainfall and dangerous conditions in the area.

The Big Rock Fire left a burn scar on the hillside, increasing the risk of additional mudslides, falling debris, and flooding.

Residents in the affected area are strongly encouraged to stay inside their homes, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay off the ridge above the Heise area.

Stay alert for emergency notifications and follow all instructions from emergency officials. If you receive a Ready, Set, Go notification, follow the instructions immediately.

Please do not enter the closed area unless you live there, and use extreme caution if you must travel in or out. Conditions can change quickly.

More rain is expected, and worsening conditions are possible. Please take this warning seriously and follow instructions from emergency officials.
