The new pump station on West Glen Avenue in Ridgewood has been operating smoothly for the past three weeks.

Known as a "booster" station, it was constructed to improve water pressure and reliability in a low-pressure area by pumping water uphill into Midland Park.

The station is an important infrastructure investment that enhances system performance and helps ensure a consistent water supply for customers in the affected service area.

*** 7th PFAS Treatment Facility Comes Online ***

Ridgewood Water is pleased to announce that the Ames PFAS Treatment Facility in Wyckoff - one of our four largest treatment facilities - is operational. The facility is currently treating water from two of seven wells, with the remaining wells scheduled to be brought online over the coming weeks.

Located inside the residential-style building pictured are six granular activated carbon vessels capable of treating up to 2.16 million gallons of water per day.

By the end of 2026, 11 of Ridgewood Water’s 12 new PFAS Treatment Facilities are expected to be online, reducing all regulated PFAS compounds in treated water to undetectable levels - surpassing the EPA standard of 4 parts per trillion.

The final facility is anticipated to be fully operational early next year. Once complete, this systemwide project will bring Ridgewood Water into full compliance four years ahead of the EPA’s 2031 deadline.

In observance of the federal holiday Juneteenth, Ridgewood Water offices will be closed on Friday, June 19.

Please note that our water system operators are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week and remain available for water-related emergencies.

On Thursday, June 11, Ridgewood Water Director Richard Calbi joined senior leadership from the American Water Works Association New Jersey Section and members of its Water Utility Council at the New Jersey State House to meet with legislators from across the state and discuss issues impacting New Jersey’s water systems.

Topics included customer affordability, infrastructure funding, water security and more.

To help ensure compliance with the two-day watering schedule, Ridgewood Water employees are conducting periodic late-night and early-morning observations of automatic irrigation systems in Glen Rock, Midland Park, Ridgewood and Wyckoff.

Properties observed watering on days not assigned to their address will receive up to two warnings. If additional violations occur after those warnings, a ticket will be issued.

Please know that our goal is not to issue tickets. We would much rather see customers voluntarily follow the two-day watering schedule, which helps to protect our water supply and support reliable service for all customers during these ongoing dry conditions.

Under Ridgewood Water’s two-day watering schedule, outdoor watering is permitted only on designated days. Yet water use remained extremely high on Friday – a day when residential irrigation systems should have been off.

As New Jersey remains under a Drought Warning, we are asking all customers to review their sprinkler system settings and ensure they are complying with the schedule.

Even-numbered addresses: Wednesday and Sunday
Odd-numbered addresses: Tuesday and Saturday
No watering on Monday, Thursday and Friday

Reducing outdoor water use is one of the simplest and most effective ways to help protect our water supply during the current Drought Warning.

Please check your system. Follow the schedule. Use water wisely.
