🚨Spread the word!! This Dirty Money Campaign is happening right now in Beaufort County. There are large sums of money being spent on thousands of expensive slick color campaign ads. We estimate over $200K on campaign mailers supporting some candidates and very negative ads about others. Beaufort County is NOT for sale. Please Share!!!

Statement from Beaufort County Republican Party

The Beaufort County Republican Party strongly condemns the actions of an out-of-state Federal SuperPAC attempting to influence the Republican Primary elections for Beaufort County Council.

This SuperPAC, operating under the name “Alliance For Lowcountry Balance,” was quietly established in April 2026. Because it is a Federal PAC, it is not required to disclose its donors until July — conveniently after the June 9th Republican Primary.

Many BCRP members have expressed deep concern about this unprecedented national meddling in our local elections. Several members have also noted that two of the candidates heavily supported by this PAC have a documented record of supporting Pine Island developers.

Beaufort County voters deserve transparency. We must ask: Who are the donors behind this dark money? Why is outside money trying to buy influence in our local races?

The BCRP has no involvement with this SuperPAC or any PAC. The BCRP has clear rules about the Party and its leadership engagement in competitive primaries (Rule XX (1)).

We urge all Republican voters to be informed and vigilant. When you see candidates endorsed by this out-of-state dark money group, ask them directly who is funding their campaign and whose interests they will truly represent.

As one concerned BCRP member stated:

“UNBELIEVABLE— now there is a secretive dark money PAC (Alliance For Lowcountry Balance) trying to buy County Council elections. This is undoubtedly funded by certain developers. The PAC is from outside Beaufort County. Check the very small print at the bottom of certain candidate ads. This is despicable. We cannot let developers buy County Council races.”

FYI - As this email was being prepared to publish, we found 2 additional SuperPAC's run by the same Dark Money pro development and real estate groups as the one mentioned above. This is MOST concerning.

More on Dirty Money Super Pac

Note the Treasurer, Dustin McIntyre, paid a civil penalty of $1975 in June 2023, see attached settlement agreement. The BCRP is NOT involved with this FEC SuperPAC and questions why a Federal SuperPAC is endorsing candidates in a local county council race.

Who is Dustin McIntyre?
He’s listed as the treasurer for Guilford-Rockingham Alliance and for two of the groups that funded it, but little other information is publicly available about him.

The phone number listed on paperwork leads to a busy signal each time WUNC News attempted to call it.

A recent Washington Post article describes McIntyre as “a political operative who has served as treasurer for conservative political action committees around the country.” A series of internet searches for more information about McIntyre turned up no additional information, just more PACs where he’s listed as the treasurer.
