TRAFFIC UPDATE - PIONEER STREET I-5 OVERPASS

Single lane closures will be in effect on the Pioneer Street I-5 Overpass tomorrow, Wednesday, June 24, between 56th Place and 65th Ave from 8 AM to 3 PM. This closure will allow City crews to perform landscape maintenance on the center median on Pioneer Street.

New parade chair rules are in effect for the 4th of July Parade this year, per RMC 5.40.140

To support safe and orderly parade attendance, the City will allow chairs to be placed along the parade route beginning at 12 PM on July 3. Chairs must be attended until 6 PM.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Chairs may not be placed before noon on July 3. Stay with your chairs until at least 6 PM.
• Each adult may place up to five chairs
• Chairs must be placed side-by-side with no gaps
• Keep sidewalks, ramps, driveways, intersections, and visibility areas clear
• No ropes, blankets, tape, chalk, paint, stakes, or other space-saving markers may be used
• Some areas are designated as no-reservation zones. Watch for posted signs.

Chairs that do not comply with these rules may be removed. Removed chairs will be available to be picked up at the Police Department on Monday, July 6.

Place chairs at your own risk. We cannot guarantee reserved space and are not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged, or removed chairs.

Kindness Citations RPD-01855 & 1856

The Ridgefield Art Association is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3), dedicated to promoting art in Ridgefield WA. This talented group that is now 120+ members strong has a community-minded focus on showing off the work their members create, helping them grow, and raising funds for projects that lift those who need it in their small (but growing) town.

On this day it was fantastic seeing their members join the Ridgefield Police Officers building a more connected community by simply painting rocks and engaging in wonderful conversation. Officer Debiak was honored to issue you both a Kindness Citation for your participation and support. It was so appreciated having you at the “Rocks with Cops” event.

The Stormwater Maintenance Worker II is a full-time, regular, non-exempt, 40-hour per week position. Under the general direction of the Utilities Supervisor, this position performs skilled maintenance activities and uses specialized equipment in the construction, maintenance, cleaning and repair of stormwater systems.

On June 11, Mayor Matt Cole proclaimed June 19, 2026, as "Juneteenth Day of Observance" in Ridgefield, recognizing the significance of Juneteenth as a celebration of freedom and a time for reflection, education, and community.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of emancipation finally reached more than 250,000 enslaved people in Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Celebrated by Black Americans for generations, Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021 and a Washington State holiday in 2022.

The City of Ridgefield recognizes Juneteenth as an important milestone in our nation's history and an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing pursuit of freedom, justice, dignity, and opportunity for all.

Residents are encouraged to honor this day by learning about its history, reflecting on the progress we have made, and recommitting ourselves to building a more inclusive and equitable community. Local celebrations will take place throughout Clark County, including the Juneteenth Freedom Celebration on June 20 at Esther Short Park in Vancouver.

Planning to attend the Ridgefield 4th of July Celebration?

Skip the traffic and park at Costco. Thanks to C-TRAN, free shuttle service will be available between Ridgefield Costco and downtown.

FREE C-TRAN Shuttle
• Arrival service: 8 AM to 10:10 AM
• No shuttle service during the parade
• Return service: Approximately 12:30 PM to 5 PM

Park at Ridgefield Costco (519 N 56th Place) to hop on the shuttle to downtown. Additional free parking is available at the Ridgefield Waterfront with shuttle service to downtown.

ADA parking is available at the Ridgefield Administrative and Civic Center (510 Pioneer Street) and Union Ridge Elementary (330 N 5th Ave). Please note that parking the night before is not allowed and there will be no parking permitted on the Pioneer Street rail overpass.

The Ridgefield City Council is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated community member to serve on the Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission is comprised of seven volunteers who advise the City Council on planning, development, and growth issues for the community. They meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM.

On June 11, Mayor Matt Cole proclaimed June 2026 as "Ride Transit Month" in Ridgefield, recognizing the vital role public transportation plays in connecting people to work, school, health care, recreation, and community activities.

Ride Transit Month is a statewide initiative that encourages residents to explore transit as a convenient, affordable, and sustainable way to travel. In Ridgefield, C-TRAN's Route 48 and The Current on-demand rideshare service help connect residents throughout the region.

Transit provides safe, accessible transportation for those who cannot or do not drive and helps reduce traffic congestion and emissions. Approximately 4,500 Ridgefield youth ages 18 and under can ride local transit routes for free through the Youth Opportunity Pass program, while veterans and active-duty military personnel ride free with the Heroes Pass.

This June, consider taking transit to your next destination, or celebrate the neighbors who rely on transit to stay connected to the people and places that matter most.
