We are so proud of our employee teams, the Ridgefield RoadRunners and Ridgefield Walkabouts, for completing the 2026 Hood to Coast and Portland to Coast relays last weekend!

The Ridgefield RoadRunners completed the 196-mile relay in 29 hours and 46 minutes, beating last year's time by 2 hours and 32 minutes! They placed 58th out of 163 in their division.

The Ridgefield Walkabouts completed the 128-mile Portland to Coast relay in 30 hours and 34 minutes, which was 3 hours and 56 minutes faster than last year! They placed 5th out of 37 in their division.

Organizing these teams is an exciting piece of our employee wellness program and reflects our commitment to supporting the health and well-being of city employees. Please join us in congratulating both teams on their accomplishments!

Thank you to all the volunteers, friends, family and colleagues who helped get our Ridgefield teams to the finish line!

It's shaping up to be a rainy week! Remember, pet waste doesn’t stay put; it travels downstream.

Dog owners, remember: Scoop it. Bag it. Trash it. Every time.

• Pick up waste, even in your yard
• Do not compost or flush pet waste
• Bring extra bags and encourage others to clean up

These simple actions help protect our waterways and public health.

During an annual hydrant inspection earlier this month, our water team discovered a fire hydrant with broken internal parts that were unable to be repaired. The team promptly replaced the hydrant.

Providing reliable water delivery for emergencies is a key priority for our water team, which is why regular inspections and preventative maintenance on key infrastructure like hydrants are critical to maintaining our water system.
