Join me, Allan Welby of the Ridgefield Conservation Commission, on a bird walk at Bennetts Pond State Park, Wednesday, May 20, 7:00 am. Spring migration is in full swing as birds of every size and variety are working their way through our area, traveling from their wintering grounds in South America to their breeding grounds in Canada. The highlight of this migration are the wood warblers, approximately 30 species sporting dazzling colors and singing complex, delightful songs. Beginners welcome. Meet at the main parking lot at Bennett’s Pond, 572 Bennetts Farm Road, Ridgefield. The walk will last approximately 2 hours (we're going to stick to a couple of easy trails from the parking lot). After the walk you'll also have the option to join me at McKeon Farm to check on our thriving Purple Martin colony. Bring binoculars if you have them. Ticks always an issue so defend accordingly. I'll have extra bottled water if you need it. Most of all bring a sense of curiosity! Message me if you have any questions. Attached photo an Indigo Bunting (we should see this on this walk).
