Just an example of how long its been since we have been allowed to put gravel on trails after COVID and county leadership changes paused us for 7 YEARS. This is the last rock off Everson. So grateful to current county staff for seeing the value in volunteer organizations that can help. Whipple is getting busier every day and often has more users than most parks in the district while only costing taxpayers very little. Smart to use all available options. We will next be buying more gravel with privately donated WCRC funds and dressing all the trails we can to make them as nice for everyone as possible. Please help when and where you can.

Friends our 3rd Saturday Work Party is tomorrow morning 9am to noon. Heads up county parks volunteer coordinator informed us that CCTV may be out to film for 1st time since 2018 when we won the skid steer national competition lease.
Also For the 1st time since 2019 thanks to a great county parks finally letting volunteers make a difference we are starting to put fresh gravel on trails. Can you believe the trails look as good as they do after 6 plus years of only being permitted to clean and no new rock? That is the amazing work from all the volunteers before. We are well over 15,000 hours and will continue to care for this beautiful park we all own. Come walk the trails and clean or cut invasive ivy or shovel and rake gravel? We will be working on Raspberry and Cedar loop.

Morning work party of cleaning trails and trimming invasives. A little frustrated with County Parks in regards to a few simple things asked but not answered for YEARS. How hard is it to get a decent Enjoy Trail sign at park entrance, this portion has to be part of the 1.4 acre developed section? Next its pretty clear that last year was final lease of the 3 big fields near park by Tom Vanlaken but all my efforts to get an answer from department on who handles these leases have not been returned. Hopefully Parks will get staffing adequate to do the many things they do as well as engage volunteers throughout the county to maximize that resource. The WCRC would pay out of pocket to get at least the main field with its Tansey Lupin and thistle cut down especially as it is a big fire hazard.

Community members Please fill out this survey helping parks understand what we are interested in the future. Whipple Creek park users came very strong the last time the county did a survey even if the results were not entirely friitful. Lets continue to voice our wishes with our future tax dollars and the assets we own and the county is tasked to build and manage.
As one of the few true multi user parks in the county we have a unique mix of horse, bike, walker, dogs all enjoying a beautiful natural space. We all need to help guide the future development of the park and the only way is to stay engaged. The county asks what we want so we need to help them with surveys like these. As well as in the future the type and scope of development for Whipple.

Couple things friends of Whipple Creek Regional Park. First today we removed all the seasonal trail signs all trails open to multi users. Next great news from Clark County Parks department. We are finally allowed to dress trails with gravel once again since our 2019 season. The trails have held up amazingly well with no new rock on trails over the last 6 years but there are many things spots and mud patches that need our attention. We are now gearing up with equipment to make this safe and easy for our volunteers. Stay tuned and keep an eye out for us on the trails. We will have signs warning you of work in a particular area.

Also Heads Up seasonal trail restrictions still in effect for safety and to protect the natural trails. Weather depending May 1st to the 15th is our normal earliest time to open these up to all users. Thanks for understanding.

Setting the record straight as we can. First there are NO plans for parking fees at Whipple.
Just had a LONG conversation, first time since last spring with awesome Parks Director Ross Hoover. Apparently the last post got a few folks concerned with certain details. The great thing about that is that it ultimately connected he and I after to long. The county has big challenges trying to finalize the comp plan and more importantly funding needed operations and expansion.
Ross was candid that there will be progress but it will be slow. Next year will be design work for the park followed by actual building by possibly 2028. People will have an opportunity to voice their concerns coming up as soon as this year to shape talks on design stage next year. Hopefully we can keep our eyes open and are aware of when and where those happen.
As for the Parks Advisory Board they do have an Agenda with a list of subject matter and ABSOLUTELY there has always been a chance for public comment at the beginning of ALL of the near 20 Advisory boards the best suggestion is to find out the agenda of any meeting and speak specifically to that when possible.
The county has informed WCRC that any real trail work like putting gravel on trails or fixing the ailing bridge on the N S connector requires special permits and county staff to help facilitate and that although we have done so much of this in the past WITH past permits alongside the county and seasoned trail organizations like the WTA we are not able to do that kind of work. We are hopeful that as county staff grows there will be new efforts to engage organizations such as ours with the history, experience, funding and support UNLIKE any other in the area. We are grateful to the many organizations who we work with in state and federal lands who have lent time and expertise over the last 15 plus years. We have our work parties lined up mostly 3rd Saturdays starting in March and will continue to do the minimal but important things we have been allowed that have kept the park as nice as we can without any capital investment type work. We suggest that folks reach out to their council person to remind them that they care about not just Whipple but Parks in general.
