Ridgefield Social Services Upon request, we will also arrange for the actual delivery of services. to 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Ridgefield Department of Social Services has a wealth of information about agencies and resources which offer services and benefits to senior citizens, people with disabilities, victims of abuse and neglect, veterans and people with limited incomes. Social Services offers local individuals and families a comprehensive array of crisis intervention, information and referral services which are cu

stom tailored to their particular circumstances. We are available to provide needs assessments as well as identification of local and area providers of services appropriate to the requirements of Ridgefield residents. Our extensive network of helping agencies such as the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association, the Fire Department, the Police Department, Meals on Wheels, the Youth Service Bureau, the State Department of Children and Families and our regional hospitals, allows us to quickly gain access to the services needed to aid Ridgefielders in both crisis and non-crisis situations. The Ridgefield Food Pantry owes it existence to the generosity of the people of Ridgefield. It is located on the second floor of the Ridgefield Town Hall and contains non-perishable foods as well as personal care and household products. It is available to all residents who are in need and is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. Donations are always gratefully welcomed and may be brought to the Social Services Department in Town Hall; please call in advance for larger donations. Several programs that address a variety of needs within the community are also offered. They include:
• Cell Phones for Safe Seniors and People with Disabilities
• Friendly Shopper Service Program
• The Latchkey Kid Program
• The Campership Program

The Ridgefield Emergency Fund which is also supported entirely by donations. Funds are used to purchase food certificates, home heating fuel, electricity, clothing, and other basic needs for financially distressed local residents. Tax-deductible contributions are always both much needed and much appreciated. Checks payable to the Emergency Fund may be mailed directly to the Department of Social Services, 400 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT 06877

Where: St Andrew's Lutheran Church, 6 Ivy Hill Road, Ridgefield
How: Please park at St. Andrew's Church and remain in your car until your number is called. This is a farmer's market style distribution where consumers pick the items they want.

The distribution will run for 1 hour and is open to anyone.
Please check the CT Foodshare website for up to date scheduling and if there is adverse weather.

Ridgefield Library is pleased to announce that the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program will be returning this year to prepare tax returns, in-person, and free of charge. AARP Tax-Aide is available to most taxpayers – you do not need to be an AARP member, and there are no age limits/qualification. TaxAide counselors are trained in a broad scope of tax rules and situations, and are required to complete IRS and AARP TaxAide certification requirements for volunteer tax preparers.

The program will operate every Thursday from February 12 through April 9, with additional Tuesday sessions March 24, March 31, and April 7.

You can schedule an appointment (required – no walk-ins please) by calling 203-442-5117. Leave your name, phone number, and preferred appointment date, and someone will call you back within a few days. Please note – this is a new contact number for the program, different than in prior years.

After making an appointment, you will receive a confirmation of the date, along with information about what documents you will need to bring to your scheduled tax return prep session.
