The Ridgefield Park Police Department reminds all residents and commuters that school re-opens on Thursday, September 3. As students return to class, we ask everyone to use extra caution on our roadways, especially during the morning arrival and afternoon dismissal hours.

Please slow down and remain alert in and around school zones, crosswalks, intersections, and residential neighborhoods. Be on the lookout for children walking to school and riding bikes or scooters, as they may be difficult to see and can move unpredictably.

Drivers are reminded not to park in yellow zones and not to double park during school drop-off or pick-up. If your child cannot be safely unloaded from your vehicle at the curb, please find a legal parking space nearby and walk your child to the front of the school. Keeping travel lanes, crosswalks, and intersections clear helps protect our students and keeps traffic moving safely.

We also ask the public to be mindful of and respectful toward our crossing guards, who play an important role in keeping our children and families safe each day. Please follow their directions and exercise patience during the busy arrival and dismissal periods.

By slowing down, parking responsibly, staying alert, and working together, we can help ensure a safe start to the new school year for everyone in our community.

The Ridgefield Park Police Department is currently seeking qualified individuals to join our team as Crossing Guards.

Crossing Guards play an important role in keeping our children safe while providing a positive and visible presence throughout our community.

We are currently hiring for both permanent and substitute positions.

Applications are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the Ridgefield Park Police Department desk.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from the Ridgefield Park Police Department! 🇺🇸

Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and the freedoms we are privileged to protect every day. As you gather with family, friends, and neighbors, we wish everyone a safe, happy, and memorable Fourth of July.

With today’s extreme heat, please take extra precautions:
☀️ Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
🌡️ Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
🧢 Wear lightweight clothing, use sunscreen, and seek shade whenever possible.
🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle—not even for a minute.
🎆 If you’re celebrating with fireworks, remember to leave them to the professionals whenever possible and always put safety first.

Our officers will be on patrol throughout the holiday to help keep our community safe. We thank you for your continued support and wish everyone a fun, safe, and enjoyable Independence Day.

Today, we proudly recognize and celebrate Arlene Bilazeros for an extraordinary milestone of 51 years of dedicated service as a crossing guard for the Ridgefield Park Police Department and our schools.

For more than five decades, you have been a familiar, reassuring presence in our community. Through rain, snow, heat, and cold, you stood at your post each day with unwavering commitment, helping generations of children arrive safely at school and return home to their families.

Your service goes far beyond directing traffic. You have been a friendly face, a source of comfort, and a symbol of safety for countless students, parents, and residents.

On behalf of the Ridgefield Park Police Department, our schools, and the entire community, thank you for your 51 years of outstanding service. Your legacy will be remembered and appreciated for generations to come.

What an incredible day at the 2026 Torch Run! 🔥🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Proud to be part of a movement that brings communities together in support of Special Olympics athletes. The energy, dedication, and spirit on display throughout the run were truly inspiring.

A special congratulations to everyone who participated and helped carry the Flame of Hope to its destination in Ridgefield Park. Thank you to the law enforcement officers, volunteers, athletes, families, and supporters who made this event such a success. Until next year!
