Thank you to the many community members we got a chance to talk to this weekend about the importance of Measure V. From our team of doorknockers, to the parents of little ghouls and ghosts at Trunk or Treat, to the Zombies and families at Boo’s On Balsam; each of you have told us what we hoped to hear…

• “YES ON MEASURE V! – THIS IS NOT A TAX INCREASE”
• “YES ON MEASURE V! – PUBLIC SAFETY IS TOO IMPORTANT”
• “YES ON MEASURE V! – KEEP MOVING FORWARD”
• “YES ON MEASURE V! – PROTECT US FROM BAKERSFIELD"

Now with a week to go, we are going to continue to share and emphasize the importance of Measure V, but the power is now in your hands.

We encourage our community to VOTE and to participate in the process. When we speak as a community, we can overcome any challenge!

Thank you once again to our incredible Ridgecrest Police Department for keeping our community safe and getting drugs and guns off our street. Please join us in supporting the passage of Measure V and continue the progress being made to improve the quality of life for our entire community!

It's been said on social media recently that Ridgecrest is famous for high taxes. That surprised the volunteers supporting Yes on Measure V because one of the many things we really appreciate about Ridgecrest is that our affordable homes mean our taxes are actually some of the lowest in the county! So we did some research… We found two comparable homes selling now for prices similar to their assessed value. One in Tehachapi, and one in Ridgecrest… And we looked at their property tax bills.

The Ridgecrest home buyer would only pay around half as much in taxes!!! And not only does that mean thousands of dollars in savings on the property tax bill, but you would have to purchase $211,913 in non-essential items EACH Year with Measure V in place to pay as much in sales tax as you'd be saving by living in Ridgecrest.

We love paying less in taxes, but since the city gets just six percent of our general local government tax, it also means our city gets less funding for the critical infrastructure that supports our community. And Measure V allows us to ensure that our safety and infrastructure get the funding needed not only to support our citizens and families, but ultimately our property values as well. And still pay some of the LOWEST taxes in the county.

Incredibly thankful to have the fully-funded Ridgecrest Police Department police force that we do! A response time of ~3 min. from the 911 call?! That is unheard of, and in this case saved multiple lives.

If you are happy with this outcome, and prefer to have officers ready to respond, please also understand this is a result of Measure V currently funding this critical resource, and will not continue to be the case if V is not renewed. We need this fully-qualified, fully-staffed Police Department.
Please join us in Voting Yes on Measure V to keep the services we need the most.

Thank you to Terry Mitchell for taking the time to voice her journey to YES on V. We encourage voters to take the time to really understand the importance of Measure V and why citizen groups are working so hard to ensure its passage. We appreciate your support!

On Oct. 2, I addressed the City Council because of comments that had been made with respect to Measure V on Facebook. My main issue with Measure V was the

Ballots were mailed on Monday, and some of us are already getting those filled out and sent in this weekend. As you complete your ballot, the volunteers of the Ridgecrest 2030 PAC ask you to vote YES on V to keep our taxes and services the same, and to help us maintain local control of our safety, infrastructure, and the future of our community.

You may see the Police Employees Association of Ridgecrest in your neighborhood over the next few days. Feel free to stop them to say hello, ask questions and get to know why those on the front lines believe this measure is so essential to our community's future safety.

We've all heard on social media that some would have liked to see Measure V renewed with a “Sunset Clause”, instead of “until ended by voters”. While we understand that bringing measures up for a vote regularly helps voters feel like they have better accountability, we also recognize that there's a bigger issue our community MUST consider this election.

When Measure L, and then Measure V, passed, very few local jurisdictions had put similar measures in place. But in 2024, our city is now one of the ONLY jurisdictions in the county without an “until ended by the voters” sales tax measure. Which means we're one of the ONLY ones who can't provide or offer long-term stability for potential police officers, local businesses, potential investors… and even our own families and community. We can't afford to let our city fall behind! It is essential that we ensure that we're on equal footing with Bakersfield, Wasco, Tehachapi… And the rest of our county, by also having our safety and infrastructure funding be “until ended by voters”, just like almost everyone else.

Thank you to Jennifer Wood Slayton for doing the groundwork with every local jurisdiction so we can all see EXACTLY how essential it is that we pass Measure V “until ended by voters”!
