Today the Senate Appropriations Committee is considering my bill SB 1018 — Blair and Kendra’s Law.
This bill would create a special “Human Trafficking Awareness” license plate in honor of Blair Moseley and Kendra McIntyre, two remarkable young women whose lives were tragically cut short by human trafficking.
Proceeds + voluntary donations will fund the Survivors of Human Trafficking License Plate Fund, awarding grants to survivor-led nonprofits.

Let’s clear up a few things.

You do not have to wait to report a missing person.

MMIP is not limited to tribal lands.

And this crisis does not affect only one kind of Native community.

Too many people still think Native issues exist somewhere far away, outside the systems they know. That kind of thinking causes delay, confusion, and silence. It also leaves families fighting myths at the same time they are searching for a loved one.

The facts are simple. If an Indigenous person is missing, act immediately. Report it. Push for urgency. Do not let bad assumptions waste precious time.
