LG&E and KU have been named a nationally ranked "Top Utility" for economic development via Site Selection Magazine. This achievement stem from the company helping announce $5.7 billion and 4,574 jobs across the Commonwealth in 2025. “Our investments in generation and transmission, combined with a strong focus on customer service, position LG&E and KU as a trusted energy partner for new and expanding businesses throughout our service territories,” said LG&E and KU President John Crockett. Bluegrass Community and Technical College has received the largest philanthropic gift in its history with a $2 million commitment that will help transform a former Amazon call center in Wi******er into a regional workforce and health care training hub.

The gift from the James A. and Martha R. Brown Charitable Foundation will support the development of BCTC’s new workforce and health care education facility in Wi******er.

The facility will expand training opportunities across Central Kentucky in manufacturing, skilled trades, health care, transportation and industrial technology. The project will also more than double nursing enrollment capacity at BCTC’s Wi******er campus, helping address Kentucky’s growing demand for nurses and other health care professionals. Read more:

Governor Andy Beshear highlighted continued growth within Kentucky’s EV manufacturing sector as Astemo Americas announced a $112 million expansion and the creation of 114 new jobs at its Madison County facility.
Upon completion, Astemo’s total investment in the project will reach $379 million and support 282 jobs.
Governor Beshear credited Kentucky’s strong manufacturing foundation, stating: “Kentucky continues to lead the way when it comes to advanced manufacturing and EV operations, and this project represents another great company choosing to reinvest in the commonwealth.”
This investment represents another major milestone for Madison County and reinforces the region’s growing role in Kentucky’s advanced manufacturing and electric vehicle supply chain. Read more here:

The City of Richmond’s Economic Development Project Manager Grayson Eaves recently completed the Kentucky Institute for Economic Development (KIED), an intensive, four-hour-per-day, four-day training course hosted by the Kentucky Association for Economic Development (KAED).

Designed for local government officials, community leaders, and new or seasoned economic development professionals, it serves as a core module for state-level professional development and fulfills a key prerequisite for the international Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) exam.
The course elevates economic development expertise as it is designed to meet the core prerequisites for professionals pursuing the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) credential through the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
