New Liberty Family Shelter The New Liberty Family Shelter is a homeless shelter for families with children in Richmond, KY. The facility also houses a food bank and produce stand.

Office Hours: 8:30-1:30 Mon-Thurs, evenings by appointment only

Food Bank Hours: 10:00-1:00 Mon-Thurs


Free bread and sweets available every day during office hours (donated from local grocery stores and bakeries). The New Liberty Family Shelter has been operated for over 90 years by the New Liberty Sunday School Convention, Inc. Founded in 1882, it provided housing for immigrant farm workers un

til it was converted into a home for the elderly. In 1990, the convention re-purposed the space to accommodate homeless families from the area. Today, the shelter has six apartments for homeless families to stay in for up to six months. The building also houses a food bank that stocks both perishable and non-perishable goods. Outside the shelter, a free produce stand makes fresh fruits and vegetables available to community members throughout the week.

Thursday, May 12, 2022, The Welcome Home Team with Keller Williams Legacy Group, volunteered their time and energy at the New Liberty Family Shelter. They planted flowers, rose bushes, worked in the Community Garden, and painted one of the apartments with lots of energy and BIG smiles that lit up 123 Pine.
Sending a "BIG SHOUT OUT" to this group of wonderful people.

Worthy Matron, Georgia Parks and the Phyllis Wheatley Chapter N0. 39, visited the New Liberty Homeless Shelter and donated assorted snacks and sweets to share with the Community. Some of the Trustee Board members were there to greet us. The Richmond Mayor was there also and gave us remarks/ historical information about the Shelter. Bluegrass Assembly N0. 46 visitation to the New Liberty Family Homeless Shelter this past Saturday. The Assembly made donations of kitchen linens and paper goods for the apartments.
