Recently, Principal Investigator Dr. Terri Pogoda and Social Science Program Specialist Jonathan Yee, from our Boston LIMBIC-CENC Prospective Longitudinal Study site, attended the “Run to Home Base” charity event at Fenway Park. The event benefits the Red Sox/MGH Home Base Program, which funds their proprietary research and clinical care programs for post 9/11 veterans with PTSD, TBI, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and other issues associated with military service. Dr. Pogoda and Jonathan shared information about LIMBIC-CENC and VA research with many interested individuals and networked with veteran service organizations.

After a Herculean effort on the part of the entire Prospective Longitudinal Team, LIMBIC CENC successfully reached its enrollment goal of 3,000 graduated to follow-up participants. The 11 VA and DOD enrollment sites, who have been diligently working to contribute to the project’s enrollment, surpassed the goal 6 months early despite being shut down for a year due to the COVID pandemic. While there were many who questioned whether or not this outstanding team could make their goal with all of the obstacles thrown in their way, the LIMBIC-CENC Leadership Team never doubted that they would not only be successful but that they would complete the mission ahead of time. Congratulations to all 11 sites on a job well done.

We’d like to extend a special shout out to the LIMBIC-CENC Prospective Longitudinal Study site, W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Healthcare System, who tested the 3,000th participant!

Thank you to everyone who made this possible, your participation and dedication to the study is greatly appreciated.
