It’s mowing season, and it’s important to exercise care while landscaping, particularly around essential utilities like water meter lids. These lids cover and protect the Meter Transmission Unit (MTU), a crucial component in our water metering system. The MTU plays a vital role in transmitting meter readings to the relevant departments, enabling efficient and timely billing based on actual water usage.
Damaging the water meter lid can lead to a series of unfortunate events. This damage not only disrupts the transmission of accurate water usage data but also hampers the ability of our departments to detect and notify customers of potential leaks or unusual consumption patterns. Such notifications are vital for both conserving water and helping customers avoid unexpectedly high bills due to undetected leaks.
To ensure the smooth functioning of our water metering system and to avoid any unnecessary complications, please steer clear of the water meter lids with your mowing equipment. Taking this small precaution can save a significant amount of time and expense in repairs. Residents may be held responsible for any damaged parts. Your cooperation and attention to this detail are greatly appreciated! Happy mowing, everyone!

🚧 Street Improvement Project Update 🚧

The City of Richmond's 2026 Mill & Overlay and Street Reconstruction Project is scheduled to begin Monday, June 8.

Contractor Emery Sapp & Sons will begin work on South Camden Street by removing existing pavement in preparation for full street reconstruction. Residents in the area should expect construction activity, temporary traffic disruptions, and possible delays.

This project includes street reconstruction, mill and overlay improvements, and parking lot improvements throughout all four wards of the city. Many of the streets included in the project are areas where recent waterline replacement work has been completed.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we continue investing in Richmond's infrastructure and improving our streets for residents, businesses, and visitors.

For a complete list of streets included in the project, please visit www.cityofrichmondmo.org.

The City will provide regular project updates and notify residents as work moves through the various wards and neighborhoods.
