✅ Meet Tyler Utterback, Safety Compliance Officer, Journeyman.

Tyler believes no one should have to choose between a paycheck and making it home safely at the end of the day. He has a sharp eye for hazards and works to get them corrected before anyone gets hurt. For Tyler, success means workers going home safe to their families.

His case reviews and accident investigations are known for their detail. The narratives are so thorough that the full picture is clear before you're even done reading. His grasp of regulations and his passion for the work show in every discussion. He also makes time to mentor his coworkers, helping them grow their own skills and knowledge.

During , we're proud to recognize Tyler for the work he does every day. Thank you.

Meet Mary Elizabeth Demmin and Andrew Grove, our Industrial Hygiene Compliance Officers.

They're the backbone of our mission to make Virginia a safer place to work, live, and do business. This past year, they've responded to an overwhelming number of complaints from workers facing unsafe or unhealthy conditions — noise, chemical exposure, poor air quality, extreme temperatures, ergonomic strain, biological risks.

They step into complex, often difficult environments and resolve the issues that matter most. Their work has a real, lasting impact on the lives of Virginians.

During , we're proud to recognize Mary Elizabeth and Andrew for the work they do every day. Thank you.

This Labor Day, the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry honors the hardworking men and women who build, power, and protect the Commonwealth.

Since 1882, Labor Day has celebrated the social and economic achievements of American workers. It became a national holiday in 1894, when President Grover Cleveland signed it into law.

At DOLI, we've carried that mission forward since 1898, working every day to make Virginia a safer, healthier place to work, live, and conduct business through strong occupational safety and health programs, fair labor standards, and protections for Virginia's workers, including our youngest employees.

Happy from all of us at the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry!

⚙️ Labor Day is a time to honor the contributions of workers whose skill, service, and dedication help keep Virginia strong.

During Virginia Labor Week, the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) celebrates the people across the Commonwealth whose work strengthens our families, communities, workplaces, and economy.

At DOLI, our mission is to make Virginia a better place to work, live, and conduct business. We do this by promoting safe and healthful workplaces, supporting best employment practices, protecting children from hazardous employment, and ensuring the safe operation of boilers and pressure vessels.

This Labor Day, we recognize and thank the workers who make a difference every day — and reaffirm our commitment to a safer, healthier, and stronger Virginia.

👏 Excited to see the incredible impact Kalahari’s newest destination in Spotsylvania will have on Virginia’s hospitality and tourism industry! We’re proud to support projects that create jobs, drive economic growth, and strengthen Virginia!

Kalahari just couldn't keep us away! Last week, we were thrilled to join several Virginia officials on a site visit at Kalahari's newest location in Spotsylvania.

Joined by Virginia Secretary of Labor Jessica K. Looman, Virginia Department of Labor and Industry Commissioner James S. Frederick, and others - we were excited to show off what this property will do for Virginia's hospitality industry.
