What a great start to the new Friendship Circle year!

Our Kickoff at Surge at Regency brought together so many familiar faces and new friends. We were excited to welcome 8 new families and 9 new Teen Friends to Friendship Circle!

A big thank you to all of the families who joined us, and to our Teen Friends who volunteered their time and made new connections. We are so excited to see where these friendships go this year.

Thank you to our Friendship Circle board members who came out to support our community and welcome our new families and Teen Friends.

And a special thank you to Surge at Regency for being so welcoming and accommodating and helping us create such a fun and inclusive kickoff!

We are also grateful to fas mart, QTS, and the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond for sponsoring all of our Birthday Circles this year and helping make these experiences possible for our families.

We are looking forward to a great year of friendship, connection, and new experiences together!

🎉 Happy 50th Birthday, Tanya! 💜

Today Tanya reminded us that one of the gifts of turning 50 is knowing who you are, being your authentic self, and worrying a whole lot less about what everyone else thinks. And really, what could be more Friendship Circle than that? 💜

We believe every person should be valued, celebrated, and embraced for exactly who they are, and Tanya brings that spirit to our FCVA family every day.

We hope all the love, friendship, and joy you give to our community comes back to you tenfold in this next year and the next 50! Happy birthday, Tanya Buresh-Werby! 🎂

What an incredible 3rd Annual RVA Adaptive Athletics Day this past Sunday!

We had an amazing afternoon of wheelchair basketball, blind soccer, seated volleyball, taekwondo, and plenty of opportunities to connect, have fun, and try something new.

Thank you to all of the athletes, families, and all of the volunteers for helping make the day possible.

We’re also grateful to Wegmans and Richmond Region Tourism for their support, and to Nutzy and Natascha from the Richmond Flying Squirrels for stopping by and making the afternoon even more exciting!

Thank you to everyone who helped make RAAD such a great day. We can’t wait to do it again next year!

We are excited to see RVA Adaptive Athletics Day (RAAD) featured in the Richmond Times-Dispatch!

RAAD brought together athletes ages 5-40 of all abilities for an afternoon of wheelchair basketball, blind soccer, seated volleyball, taekwondo and, most importantly, connection and fun.

A big thank you to the Richmond Times-Dispatch for helping share the story and highlight the importance of inclusive sports in our community.

Our Young Adult Division (YAD) had a great night at Topgolf!

We had a fantastic turnout and a lot of fun spending time together, meeting new people, and enjoying a little friendly competition.

Thank you to Chabad Young Professionals (CYP) for partnering with us to make the evening happen.

Our next YAD event is coming up in November. Stay tuned for details!

Please join us in welcoming Adele Karp as the new President of Friendship Circle’s Board of Directors!

Adele brings decades of experience serving children, adults, and families as a licensed clinical social worker. During her 21 years at Jewish Family Services, she developed and led the Weinstein JCC’s pioneering Inclusion Program, creating opportunities for individuals of all abilities to participate fully in preschool, camp, religious school, after school programs, social groups, and community life.

Her expertise in disability inclusion and community leadership will help guide Friendship Circle as we continue to grow, expand our programs, and create more opportunities for friendship and connection throughout our community.

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our outgoing President, Helen Griffin, for her years of service and leadership. Helen has made a lasting impact on Friendship Circle, helping shape the organization and strengthen the community we have today.

We are grateful for all she has given to Friendship Circle and excited for the continued leadership and vision Adele will bring to our Board.

Sarah and David shared more about this exciting collaboration with Friendship Circle, Sportable and Jacob’s Chance and our shared commitment to creating opportunities for people of all abilities to participate, connect and have fun through adaptive sports.

A little cloudy weather didn’t stop our families from enjoying a fun afternoon on the water!

Today, Friendship Circle families joined Beyond Boundaries for a pontoon ride and a chance to spend time together, make memories, and enjoy the outdoors.

A special thank you to our board member Michelle for volunteering to ride along with our families. We appreciate you being there and helping make the day possible.
