✨💡Today was Glow Day, but these mathematicians were bringing the GLOW & the GROW! 🌟The Seconders practiced the following strategies when adding to twenty. 🤲We made a 10 with our Fruit Loops and ten frames…🧙‍♀️🧟‍♂️ We put a little “BOO-st” into addition as we hopped along the number line with our glow-in-the-dark witch and zombie fingers! ✨🧮We used dice and our rekenreks to write equations and subtract🎲 🎲 ✌️ We practiced doubles & near doubles and worked on our 10 facts!! They may have been glowing on the outside, but their math brains were glowing even brighter💡🧠✨

Fourth graders are facing new challenges every week in Social Studies class. Our students are LOVING them and learning so many new things! If they pass the challenge they get a popsicle and a super cool card to collect!
So far, weekly challenges have included:
🍎Week 1: name the counties that border Madison County
🍎Week 2: name the states that border Kentucky
🍎This week: regions of Kentucky

🏆 Attendance CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! 🏆

The MCS Elementary School Attendance Challenge will take place September 8–11 and September 14–17. The elementary school with the highest attendance rate will win an exciting field trip to EKU—and participating students will receive a book from the Men's Head Basketball Coach, A.W. Hamilton! 📚🏀

It’s not too late to register! Please consider participating in this race! When you register, please select “join a group/team” and select our school. The school with the most participants wins $500 which will be used to purchase arts supplies for our STEAM Lab!

We will hold an early registration check-in/materials pick-up at Eastside Community Church on Friday, September 18 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Pick up your materials early and then you're good to go for Saturday morning!

3rd graders have been working hard on multiplication word problems this week! Collaborative work is always a favorite.
