🩰 CITY DANCE THEATRE: UNSHAKEN 🩰

One of the dance highlights of this year’s Festival of Arts is coming to the Dell!

For more than 30 years, City Dance Theatre, Inc. has nurtured young Richmond dancers and helped prepare them for what comes next. Based at Pine Camp Arts and Community Center, this pre-professional company features talented dancers ages 7–17, with alumni going on to perform with renowned companies including Dance Theatre of Harlem, Urban Bush Women, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Now, these incredible young artists take the Dogwood Dell stage for UNSHAKEN — an evening celebrating movement, artistry, strength, and the next generation of Richmond dance.

We're excited to welcome Weekend Plans back to Dogwood Dell as they celebrate 10 years of making music in Richmond.

Fresh off winning the 2026 Newlin Music Prize for their acclaimed album After Hours, the band returns for a special night under the stars.

This won't be just another concert. Weekend Plans will be recording a live album, debuting exclusive merch, and offering pre-orders for the After Hours Deluxe double vinyl LP.

Come celebrate a decade of one of Richmond's favorite bands with us at Dogwood Dell.

No tickets. No fences. Just a hillside, a summer night, and the soundtrack that's brought people together for generations.

Suggesting Rhythm brings the music of the Grateful Dead to the Dell for an evening of long jams, familiar songs, and plenty of room to dance under the stars.

⛈️ WE’RE STARTING EARLY TONIGHT! HARD START AT 7:45 PM! 🪩

With severe thunderstorms quickly approaching, SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical will begin at 7:45 PM tonight. We’re going to safely give you as much of the show as Mother Nature allows.

Our cast, crew, and musicians have worked incredibly hard, and we want to give them every opportunity to share that work with you. Once weather conditions reach our established safety protocol, the performance will stop and the venue will be cleared.

Get settled in and get ready. The Last Dance starts at 7:45 PM! 🪩⚡️

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as the safety of our cast, crew, volunteers, and audience remains our priority.

If you have not already made it to the Dell, we encourage you to stay home and stay safe tonight.

🪩 LET’S TRY THIS AGAIN, RICHMOND. TONIGHT IS OPENING NIGHT! 🪩

Mother Nature may have postponed our opening night yesterday, but you can’t keep the Queen of Disco down for long. After months of rehearsals, late nights, tech, costumes, music, dancing, and now one very rainy false start, SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical FINALLY takes the Dogwood Dell stage tonight!

There’s something special about musical theatre at the Dell. For generations, Richmonders have gathered under these trees and stars to watch a cast step onto this stage and tell a story. Tonight, this cast gets to become part of that tradition.

This show is joyful, electric, funny, moving, and packed with the music of the Queen of Disco. After all the work it took to get here, tonight we finally get to do the best part: have some fun and put on a show.

🧺 There will be no food vendors tonight, so pack a picnic and bring your favorite snacks and non-alcoholic drinks!

📵 Due to licensing restrictions, photography and video recording are not permitted during the performance. Put the phones away, be in the moment, and enjoy the show with us!
