This morning, the Richmond Fire Department had the absolute honor of hosting our Retirees Breakfast at the Jason Campbell Training Facility!
It was an incredible morning filled with the smell of fresh coffee, endless laughter, and a room full of living history. To our retired members: thank you. Thank you for the decades of dedicated service, for the sacrifices you made, and for paving the way for the department we are today.
The stories shared around the tables today remind us all of the deep bond that defines the fire service. We are forever grateful for the foundation you built and the legacy you left behind.

This past weekend, the Richmond Fire Department was proud to host the Kentucky Fire Commission for a critical, high-intensity Flashover Training session for firefighters across our region.

The Goal of the Training:

Advanced Recognition: Helping our crews spot the subtle, seconds-away warning signs of rapid fire progression before it happens.

Survival Techniques: Arming firefighters with the split-second tactics needed to protect themselves and their crews from injury or death.

By hosting these intense, real-world simulations, we ensure that our local and regional firefighters are sharper, safer, and ready to make it home to their families.

Thank you to the Kentucky Fire Commission instructors and to all the regional brothers and sisters who came out to train hard with us!

Today, we officially opened the doors to a new era for the Richmond Fire Department.

This afternoon, we gathered to dedicate our new training facility building, but more importantly, we gathered to honor the man whose name now graces the facility: The Jason Campbell Training Facility.

Jason’s legacy is built into the very foundation of how we train. Known for an unmatched work ethic and a relentless commitment to professional excellence, Jason set the bar for what it means to be a student of the craft. He believed that we owe it to our community—and to each other—to be prepared for the worst day possible through rigorous, hands-on preparation.

This facility will serve as a hub for the next generation of responders to hone their skills, find their grit, and carry on the tradition of service that Jason embodied every single day.

To the Campbell family, thank you for sharing him with us. To our personnel, let this building be a reminder that the work never stops and the standard remains high.

Work hard. Train harder. Honor the legacy.

Members of the Richmond Fire Department recently completed the intensive FEMA Structural Collapse Specialist course at the Versailles Fire Department.

This advanced training prepares our team for the most complex rescue environments, focusing on breaching reinforced concrete, emergency shoring to stabilize buildings, and heavy-rigging techniques to reach trapped victims safely.

A sincere thank you to the Versailles Fire Department for hosting us and to the Bluegrass Emergency Response Team (BERT) for sponsoring and collaboration on this training. This regional collaboration ensures we are ready to respond together when the unthinkable happens.

We want to extend a thank you to Koorsen Fire & Security for hosting an outstanding fire safety and code compliance seminar at the KFC Yum Center in Louisville.

Representatives from the Richmond Fire Department had the privilege of attending this educational event alongside other AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) and facility managers. The seminar provided a great opportunity to dive deep into the latest safety codes and compliance standards, ensuring we continue to bring the best knowledge and protection back to our community.

Ongoing training and collaboration with industry partners like Koorsen allow us to stay ahead of the curve in fire prevention and life safety.
