Unfortunately, sometimes locking your doors isn’t enough. When thieves are desperate, they’ll resort to breaking windows to get inside your car. It’s important you keep your valuables out of sight or take them out of your car if you can. If you see someone breaking windows or trying to break into a car, submit a tip to the Virginia State Police. Tips leading to an arrest are eligible for rewards of up to $25,000.

While advised to lock your car doors, neighbors in the Port Norfolk area woke up to their cars still broken into.

The SEIAATI Vehicle Crimes Conference brought together vehicle crimes professionals from across the region this weekend, and HEAT was proud to be part of it!

With more than 200 Virginians in attendance, 1,400 horsepower on display, and First Sergeant Peter Lazear speaking during the opening ceremonies, it was a great opportunity to highlight HEAT’s role in vehicle theft prevention on a national stage.

We’re recovering stolen cars like it’s nobody’s business. Except it actually is our business. 🚘 It’s what we help law enforcement agencies do.

In 2025, 346 stolen vehicles were recovered by the Virginia State Police, 197 cars received VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) etchings to help deter theft, and 252 arrests were made thanks in part to some valuable tips! 🛞 Am I in a well-lit area?
🛞 Are my valuables out of sight?
🛞 Are my windows up and doors locked?
🛞 Do I have my keys?
