This summer, stay protected from the sunlight with sunscreen! 🌞

It is best to make sure that you are wearing SPF with 30 or higher while outside. Too much time in the sun can become harmful for your skin’s barrier and cause irregularities such as sunburn, wrinkles or dark spots. As a reminder, sunscreen should be applied to your face every day!

Cardinal Care offers preventive care services to help you stay healthy in the sun. To learn more about these services, please visit www.dmas.virginia.gov/for-members/benefits-and-services/adult-preventive-services/

Father's Day is a special time to reflect and show appreciation and love to all fathers. Remind the fathers in your life how much you care about them!

There are many ways you can show appreciation such as writing a card, buying flowers, calling them or just scheduling time with them on this special day. Let’s also use this day to remind our loved ones to continue taking care of their health.

Cardinal Care offers benefits and services for adults such as preventative care, which can include cancer screenings and wellness exams. If you or your father is interested in these services through Medicaid, please visit www.dmas.virginia.gov/for-members/benefits-and-services/adult-preventive-services/

After his son suffered a life-altering stroke, Zeke left his job and became his full-time caretaker.

With Cardinal Care, Zeke is assured that his son can participate in all his living activities through the Commonwealth Coordinated Care (CCC) Plus waiver. Cardinal Care also has provided transportation to Zeke and his son to get to weekly appointments.

“Thank you Cardinal Care, you are literally a life saver to us,” Zeke said.

June is Men’s Health Month; we encourage you to use this time to remind your loved ones to put their health first. The best way to prevent many serious health conditions is to schedule an appointment with a medical provider. Cardinal Care members have access to preventive services for conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.

Noticing early symptoms and communicating them with a provider is key. Before going to your appointment, write down any questions, symptoms or health concerns to share with your provider.

If you or your loved one is interested in seeking preventive care services, please visit www.dmas.virginia.gov/for-members/benefits-and-services/adult-preventive-services/

Part Two’s focus is on leaders and leadership, and the second webinar will focus on the idea that, in order to truly practice person-centered dementia care, each team member plays a part. This means everyone: nurses, nurse aides, housekeepers, life enrichment folks, maintenance, receptionists etc. What does this look like? How do you take steps to have all hands on deck?

Delivered in partnership with Virginia Commonwealth University Gerontology, this interactive training prepares staff in all roles to put person-centered Dementia care into practice in your nursing home.

Summer is approaching! ☀️

As you may know, this season comes with warm weather and sunshine. It’s important during this season to keep you and your loved ones feeling hydrated by drinking water throughout the day. Consider setting a timer as a reminder to take sips of water to maintain a daily water goal.

If you have questions about more ways to stay hydrated and healthy, consider scheduling an appointment with a medical provider.
