Emery L. Fears Boys Academy, Glen Allen, VA Academy Motto: Veritas Et Utilitas Nulli Secundus Emery L. The Academy is named in honor of renowned educator and bandmaster Emery L. Norfolk State University.

Fears Boys Academy is an independent, Christian, preparatory school for academically accelerated young men in grades four through twelve. Fears, Professor Emeritus of Music, Director of University Bands (Ret.) Fears was instrumental in catapulting the music programs at Norfolk State University to national recognition. Respectfully known as "Chief," Professor Fears is noted for his phenomenal abili

ty to implement musical excellence, ‘esprit de corps’ and self-discipline into the hearts of many students fortunate enough to be under his tutelage. His concert bands at I.C. Norcom and Manor High Schools in Portsmouth, Virginia earned eighteen consecutive Division (Superior) ratings in Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association Festivals. Offers to attend the Academy are presented to astute young men who exhibit exceptional academic promise. The Academy has continued its mission as a flagship prep school of successfully educating and producing ambitious young men who are intellectual thinkers, productive citizens, and servants of Christ and mankind.
