Urgent Monthly Test:
Madison County is conducting a scheduled test of the Emergency Notification Systems, this is only a test.

The purpose of the test is to ensure the continued reliability and effectiveness of all the county's emergency notification systems.

During this test the Outdoor Alert Sirens will sound as part of the test. The Outdoor Alert Sirens are only meant to be heard by residents and travelers who are outside. Every citizen should make use of multiple alert and notifications systems for their safety. Visit madisoncountyky.gov/alerts for more info.

With the Heat Advisory continuing into Saturday, remember that high temperatures can affect anyone, but some members of our community are more vulnerable to heat-related illness.

Take time to check on family members, friends, and neighbors who may need extra help during periods of extreme heat. Stay hydrated, limit time in the heat when possible, and never leave anyone in a parked vehicle.

⚠️ The Heat Continues, with Storms Possible Saturday

The National Weather Service has extended the Heat Advisory into Saturday, with heat index values reaching 100–107°F.

As a cold front approaches Saturday afternoon and evening, the chance for storms will increase. Madison County is currently under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather Saturday, with damaging winds as the primary concern.

There is still uncertainty regarding the timing and development of storms. Stay weather-aware as we head into the weekend, and be prepared for changing conditions.

Weak cold front arrives late Saturday afternoon into the evening. Scattered showers and storms could fire ahead of and along this approaching boundary. Some storms could be strong to potentially severe with gusty winds and hail all possible. This will bring relief to the ongoing heatwave.

Madison County’s outdoor warning sirens and RAVE alerts will be tested this Saturday, September 5 at 12:00 PM.

This is a routine test to ensure the system is functioning properly. The sound does not indicate an emergency.

⚠️ Don't Forget Anyone in a Hot Car

With temperatures climbing into the 90s this week, the inside of a parked vehicle can become dangerously hot very quickly.

Never leave a child, pet, or anyone who may be unable to exit the vehicle on their own in a parked vehicle, even for a short period of time.

Always check the front and back seats before walking away from your vehicle.

Share this reminder with family, friends, and caregivers as temperatures rise this week.

Some of the hottest temperatures of the season are expected over the next several days as daytime temperatures are expected to soar into the mid-to-upper 90s. TRAFFIC ADVISORY | August 21 | Resurfacing Project Scheduled on KY 21 (Big Hill Road) in Madison County

🚧 TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Madison County🚧

Resurfacing project scheduled to begin Friday, Aug. 21, on KY 21 (Big Hill Road).

🔸 Resurfacing work will take place from mile point 10.14 (near Silver Creek Road) to mile point 13.85 (near Honeysuckle Court).

🔸 Alternating lane closures will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. during working hours.

🔸 The project is expected to be completed by Nov. 15, weather permitting.

Motorists should use extra caution, reduce speed and watch for personnel and equipment in the work zone.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY | August 20 | Temporary Road Closures Scheduled for Big E Welcome Walk in Richmond

🚧 TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Madison County🚧

Temporary road closures are scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20, from 6:30 p.m. until approximately 7:30 p.m. in Richmond for Eastern Kentucky University’s Big E Welcome Walk.

🔸 Lancaster Avenue (KY 52) will be closed from the Eastern Bypass (KY 876) to Crabbe Street.

🔸 Barnes Mill Road will be closed from Eastway Drive to Lancaster Avenue.

Traffic control will take place at the Eastern Bypass and Lancaster Avenue, Eastway Drive and Barnes Mill Road, and Crabbe Street and Lancaster Avenue.

Motorists use alternate routes and extra caution in the area.
