ONE year ago, it was three tiny miracles. Today, it's three smash cakes.

Last year, Bon Secours welcomed triplets Olivia, Mia and Thomas Marshall into the world. Triplet deliveries are rare, making it a truly special day for the Marshall family and the care team at Mary Immaculate Hospital.

As a proud part of this community, we're honored to celebrate life's biggest milestones alongside the families we serve. Recently, we had the joy of welcoming the Marshall family back as Olivia, Mia and Thomas celebrated their first birthday. Seeing them reunite with their care team and watching how much they've grown was a heartwarming reminder of why we're here.

"Sometimes God's plan is better than the one we have for ourselves."

When this mom arrived at Bon Secours — St. Francis Eastside to be induced because of high blood pressure, she already had a vision for how her birth story would unfold. She hoped her longtime physician would be there to welcome her baby into the world.

But life had other plans.

As labor progressed, her baby's heart rate began to slowly drop. Then it dropped significantly.

In a moment filled with fear and uncertainty, Dr. Lantz rushed through pouring rain to get to the hospital and ensure that both mom and baby received the urgent care they needed. The moment he walked into the room, everything changed.

"Dr. Lantz walked in positive and confident, and I immediately knew I was in good hands."

While emotions ran high, the care team remained calm, focused and compassionate. The nurses acted quickly, never leaving her side, providing reassurance every step of the way.

Although her birth story didn't unfold the way she expected, she couldn't be more thankful for how it ended.

Today, her baby boy is healthy, thriving and bringing more joy than she ever imagined.

"I never knew I could love something so much. And it's all thanks to Dr. Lantz and his team. To Dr. Lantz and every member of the St. Francis Eastside care team: thank you for being there during one family's most frightening moments and helping turn them into a story of hope, gratitude and love."

Congratulations to this sweet family on the arrival of their precious baby boy! We wish Mom and her little one a lifetime filled with good health, happiness, laughter and countless beautiful memories together. Thanks to generous Bon Secours Foundation donors, The Birthplace at Bon Secours — Mary Immaculate Hospital has been transformed — offering an even more comfortable and memorable experience for new moms like Kahdijah. The new, adjustable bassinets are just one example of how your support makes a difference for families.

Kahdijah Ramey was expecting her second child. She was already looking forward to returning to Bon Secours — The Birthplace at Mary Immaculate Hospital to give birth a second time. What she didn’t expect was just how much donor gifts had changed the facility since her previous visit, and how much it would affect her experience.

“This one was totally different from the first time,” she says. “I thought it was one of the best experiences that I’ve had.”

Foundation donors supported a renovation of The Birthplace. Among other things, donor gifts purchased state-of-the-art bassinets to give new babies the finest accommodations available. The bassinets made a big difference for Kahdijah after giving birth.

“I am on the taller side and with the new bassinets, it was easy to adjust them up higher,” she says. “That made it easier for me to lean over from my bed into hers.”

Making a difference, one backpack at a time! Together, we packed hope and opportunity into backpacks filled with school supplies and provided them to local students!

This incredible accomplishment would not have been possible without the generosity of our staff, volunteers, departments and community partners who donated supplies, packed backpacks, and supported this effort from beginning to end.

Grateful for lifesaving care and community support at Bon Secours — Harbour View Medical Center. Deylon’s journey reminds us how the Bon Secours Foundation donors truly make a difference — helping bring cutting-edge technology and compassionate care to those who need it most.

Stomach issues sent 26-year-old Deylon Quarles to the emergency room. He expected a quick remedy and a return to normal life. Instead, testing at the new Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center revealed a shocking colon cancer diagnosis. Donor gifts to the hospital are part of the reason Deylon is here today.

“From the moment I walked in, they made me feel settled and at ease,” Deylon says. “Everybody — the doctors, nurses, and even the people delivering meals — they took really good care of me.”

Thanks to donor generosity, the new 98,000-square-foot Harbour View Medical Center opened in 2025. It brings state-of-the-art technology, expanded surgical services and additional inpatient beds to the community.

“To anyone wondering if their gift matters, it absolutely does,” Deylon says. “The technology, the facility, the team. They all work together and make every dollar matter. I’m here today because of it.”
