🎉 Celebrating One Year of First Fridays! 🎉

One year ago, Richmond’s Farmers & Artisan Market began an exciting new chapter. Thanks to the support of the City of Richmond, the Development Corporation of Richmond (DCR), our amazing vendors, and our incredible community, it has grown into something truly special.

Thank you to everyone who has shopped, shared, volunteered, participated, and helped make these evenings so special. It has been wonderful watching the market grow into a place where neighbors gather, small businesses shine, and our community comes together.

We are so proud of everything we have built together and look forward to many more First Fridays! 💚

Here’s to an incredible first year and many more First Fridays to come!

Taste of Texas has long been one of our family’s most treasured restaurants. Over the years, it has been the setting for so many special meals, celebrations and wonderful memories together. From the warm Texas hospitality to the delicious food and incredible collection of historic artifacts, every visit feels meaningful.

During our recent visit, I was especially honored to see the “Handy R***e,” a treasured artifact used by Robert Eden Handy during the Battle of San Jacinto. Handy co-founded Richmond, served on General Sam Houston’s staff during Texas’ fight for independence and was among the first to learn from Susanna Dickinson that the Alamo had fallen.

As the Mayor of Richmond and someone who deeply values our community’s history, seeing this remarkable piece of our story so carefully preserved and displayed was truly special.

Taste of Texas is so much more than a wonderful restaurant. It is a place where Texas history, hospitality and family traditions come together. Our family is grateful for the many memories we have made there, and we always look forward to returning.

Thank you to the Taste of Texas family for preserving and sharing the stories of the people who helped shape our great state. I definitely recommend visiting for an amazing meal and be sure to take time to explore the incredible collection and see the Handy R***e for yourself!

🌼 Today is National Thoughtful Day! 🌼

Thoughtfulness does not have to involve a grand gesture. It can be as simple as checking on a neighbor, thanking someone who serves our community, offering a kind word, lending a helping hand, or taking a moment to truly listen.

It also means being thoughtful about the future of Richmond. Every decision we make and every act of care we show today can help create a stronger, brighter, and more welcoming community for generations to come.

I am incredibly grateful for the people of Richmond and for the kindness, pride, and positivity you bring to our community each day. Small acts of consideration can make a meaningful difference and create a ripple of goodness throughout our city.

Today, I encourage everyone to find one thoughtful way to let someone know they are seen, valued, and appreciated. Together, let’s continue looking out for one another and building a positive future for the Richmond we all love.

What thoughtful act will you share today?
