If you look closely at the new Richmond Heights Fire & Rescue graphics, you’ll notice the silhouette built into the lettering. It’s modeled after the small rooftop structure on Richmond Heights City Hall that has become a recognizable part of the city’s identity over the years.

You’ll see that same design element throughout the community — on City Hall, the Public Safety building, The Heights, and even in the city logo. We wanted our new apparatus graphics to reflect that same connection to Richmond Heights.

There’s also a long-standing local story that a light inside the original structure would be turned on to signal police when someone in the community needed help. Whether local legend or true history, it’s a fitting symbol for public safety and service.

We’re proud to carry a small piece of Richmond Heights tradition with us every time we respond.

Today B crew responded to a single car MVA with rollover. Please read this brief message about safety through accident scenes.

🚨 SLOW DOWN & MOVE OVER 🚨
When you see emergency lights ahead, please remember to slow down & move over whenever it is safe to do so. Firefighters, EMS, law enforcement, & tow operators work just feet away from moving traffic during accident scenes & roadside emergencies every day.
A few extra seconds of caution from drivers can save a responder’s life.
⚠️ Reduce your speed
⚠️ Move over one lane if possible
⚠️ Stay alert & avoid distractions
⚠️ Give emergency crews room to work safely

Every responder deserves to make it home to their family after the call.
Help us keep our roads safer for everyone. Slow down. Move over. Lives depend on it. 🚒🚑🚓

Hydrant testing time around the city. We love plants, vegetation, and nature, but please remember to keep it trimmed down and have 36” of available space around the hydrant so the fire department can see it when we need it most.

Our firefighters recently completed national-level training with Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC), focusing on complex rescues involving semis, heavy trucks, and buses.

They trained on real-world scenarios like underrides and rollovers, using specialized techniques and working with rotating wreckers alongside the tow industry. With hands-on experience on actual semi cabs, this class helped sharpen the skills needed for some of the toughest incidents.

The cities of Brentwood, Clayton, Maplewood, and Richmond Heights are proud to announce the ribbon cutting of the Central Core Fire Training Facility, a state-of-the-art regional training center designed to strengthen emergency response and public safety across the central St. Louis County area.

This facility marks a major milestone for our departments. By having a state-of-the-art training ground located minutes from the station, our firefighters can now conduct rigorous, high-intensity drills more often and simulate a greater variety of situations.

Please join us next week as we celebrate the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Central Core Fire Training Facility!

This week, Richmond Heights paramedics, in collaboration with our regional EMS training group, Central Core Medics, and under the guidance of Washington University School of Medicine, trained on complex acute trauma care in a technical rescue environment.

Crews went beyond basic extrication, working through high-fidelity scenarios designed to mirror real-world incidents. Training included management of crush syndrome, advanced airway and critical care interventions, and even a simulated field amputation—integrating both technical rescue operations and advanced medical decision-making.

These full-scale evolutions were completed alongside WashU EMS Physicians ensuring our crews are prepared to deliver the highest level of care in the most challenging environments.

Proud of the work, professionalism, and commitment shown by everyone involved as we continue to raise the standard of prehospital care.
