Fire Hydrant Testing Begins on Monday, May 11th.

The Richmond Heights Fire Department will begin its annual fire hydrant testing on Monday, May 11th, an essential part of ensuring that hydrants are functioning properly and ready to provide strong, reliable water flow during emergencies. This routine maintenance helps identify any hydrants that may need repairs, keeping the community's fire protection system operating at its best.

During testing, residents may notice firefighters opening hydrants throughout the neighborhood, along with temporary effects such as discolored or cloudy water or slightly reduced pressure. These changes are normal, harmless, and usually clear quickly. Running cold water for a few minutes can help flush your lines. Signage will be placed the day before in areas scheduled for testing, so residents know when crews will be working nearby. Thank you for your patience during this important maintenance activity.
