We are grateful to all who joined us last Thursday to honor the life and legacy of Commissioner Robert D. Larson. 💙⚓

It was a meaningful morning at the USS Triton Sail Park as we came together with community members, partners and the Larson family to reflect on Bob’s extraordinary service and lasting contributions to the Port of Benton and the Tri-Cities.

For nearly three decades, Bob’s leadership, vision and dedication helped shape our region—and his passion for preserving history will live on through the USS Triton Sail Park.

From the heartfelt remarks to the plaque unveiling, the ceremony was a true reflection of the impact one person can have through service and commitment to community.

Thank you to everyone who attended, spoke and helped make this tribute so special.

Bob’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations. 🌟

🚧 Steptoe Crossing Update! 🚧

The new Steptoe railroad crossing was successfully installed this weekend, marking an important milestone for the project.

A big thank you to Culbert Construction, HDR Engineering, J-U-B Engineers, Columbia Rail, Coast Rail, Tapteal Properties and the City of Richland for their coordination and hard work in making this happen.

We also appreciate the public’s patience while navigating the detour during construction. Your support helps keep projects like this moving forward safely and efficiently.

🚧 Steptoe Railroad Crossing Update 🚧

Time is flying, and this week marks the Steptoe railroad crossing reconstruction weekend as part of the Steptoe Street & Tapteal Drive project.

Prework has begun, and crews from around the region will be assembling. Starting Thursday, May 14, Steptoe Street will be fully closed between Gage Boulevard and the Columbia Park Trail roundabout to allow crews to remove and replace existing railroad tracks and signal infrastructure. The street is expected to reopen Monday morning, May 18, though reopening may be impacted by site conditions.

🚦 What to know:
• Detours will be in place via Leslie Road and Center Parkway
• Local access to side streets will be maintained; through traffic is restricted
• Pedestrian and bicycle detours will be provided
• The west end of Tapteal Drive remains closed, with detours via Center Parkway and Columbia Center Boulevard

Please plan ahead, follow posted signage, and allow extra travel time. Thank you for your patience as this important safety and infrastructure improvement moves forward.
