What a week! We really hit the ground running with fall programs for adults.

Tuesday the library welcomed photographer John Lacko to take us down Route 66. Through John's beautiful photos and vivid stories, we got lost on the backroads of "America's Main Street."

Wednesday was the kick off of our Fall 2026 Meet Michigan Author's series with James Elsener and his book "Sirens in the Loop- A History of the City News Bureau of Chicago." James regaled us with some gritty, often humorous, tales of urban journalism.

Thursday allowed us to bring some nature indoors with Jodi Heaney's presentation on Forest Bathing, teaching us all about the mental and physical benefits of spending time in nature.

If you missed any of these great programs, fear not! We have plenty more coming in the weeks ahead.

James Elsener is a veteran journalist and author. During his four-decade newspaper career, he has been a publisher, editor, columnist, reporter, sales manager, and association executive.

James's book "Sirens in the Loop - A History of the City News Bureau of Chicago" traces the rise and legacy of the legendary news wire service that shaped generations of reporters and defined the city’s gritty journalistic identity.

For almost 20 years, photographer John Lacko & his wife have been driving this route and snapping pictures along the way. John will take us on a pictorial trip down "American's Main Street"
