✏️🧡 This is what community looks like.

We love seeing the ways our community comes together to support our students—and this recent donation from Richland Electric Cooperative and its members is a great example!

Trina Brauer, REC Member Communication Specialist, recently stopped by the District Office to deliver school supplies that will help make sure our students have the tools they need to learn and succeed this school year.

School supplies might seem like a small thing, but for a student, having the right tools can make a big difference. And when our community comes together to help provide those tools, it sends an even bigger message: our kids matter, and we are all invested in their success.

It takes a community to support our kids—and we're pretty lucky to be part of this one. 🧡🐝

🧡🐝 Today is 988 Day.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month—a time to remind one another that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. 988 Day (September 8) is specifically designed to draw attention to the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, which is available 24/7 by call, text, or chat for anyone experiencing emotional distress, struggling with something difficult, or simply needing someone to talk to. It's free and confidential.

But 988 isn't the only place you can turn. Talk to someone you trust—a parent, teacher, counselor, coach, friend, or another trusted adult. You don't have to wait until things feel overwhelming to reach out. Sometimes the most important step is simply starting the conversation.

Know the number. Share the number. And most importantly, let someone know when you need help.

☀️🧡 We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful Labor Day today!

But if there's one thing we know about Wisconsin weather, it's that things can change in an instant. 🌦️❄️

As we head into another school year, make sure you're opted in to receive text messages from RSD so you don't miss important updates about weather-related delays or cancellations.

📱 Text YES to 79041 to opt in.

Hopefully, we won't need to use it anytime soon...but we all know...winter is coming

These ladies LOVE welcoming our youngest Hornets through the doors of our primary school! 🧡🖤🐝

…but tomorrow, they’re perfectly happy to let everyone sleep in! 😉🇺🇸

Enjoy the Labor Day weekend, Hornets! Soak up this unofficial last day of summer, enjoy some extra family time, and we’ll see you back at school Tuesday! ☀️📚🐝

🧔‍♂️🧡 It's World Beard Day...which seems like the perfect time for a throwback to the day we lost a few!

Last February, three brave RSD staff members put their facial hair on the line, shaving their beards as part of a fundraiser supporting our Middle School Student Council.

It was a lot of laughs for a great cause—and a pretty good example of what makes our staff so special. They give our students their time, talents, energy, and apparently, even their hair. 😂

As we kick off the 2026–27 school year, we know there will probably be a few moments when our staff feel like pulling their hair out...so we're especially grateful for the people who show up every day ready to give their best to our kids.🧡🐝🧔‍♂️

🧡🐝 After 32 years of service to the Richland School District, our Athletic & Activities Director, Laura Selgeby, is retiring!

Throughout her career, Laura has worn many hats—teacher, coach, assistant principal, Athletic & Activities Director, game manager, mentor, colleague, and friend. No matter the role, she has brought the same dedication to our students, our staff, and the Hornet community. Today, we celebrated Ms. Selgeby with a tradition reserved for the most successful of our Hornets, a (surprise) drumline walk through the halls.

Now, after spending so many years keeping track of everyone else's schedules, we hope Laura gets to enjoy a schedule that's entirely her own—with plenty of time for family, traveling (although she's already managed to visit every National Park!), crafting, baking, and whatever adventure comes next.

Laura, thank you for 32 incredible years of service to RSD. You will be missed more than you know, and we wish you nothing but the very best in retirement! 🧡🐝

🏐🧡 What a night for Hornet Volleyball!

Our Hornets brought home wins at all three levels last night in Dodgeville! And our varsity squad did it in commanding fashion, with 25-9, 25-8, and 25-14 wins! 🙌🐝

If you're a volleyball lover, there's more action coming your way! The Hornets are hosting a nine-team tournament at home this Saturday! 🏐 Doors open at 8:00 AM.

Come spend the day in the gym and enjoy some great volleyball right here at home! We can't wait to see you in the stands supporting our girls! 🧡🐝

🧡🐝 Find your people. Find your thing. Find your club.

One of the things that makes RCHS special is that there's a place for everyone to get involved. Today, our high school students had the chance to explore more than 20 clubs and activities during Club Exploration—and we're hoping a few of them found something that sparked their interest!

From FFA and SkillsUSA to Art Club and Forensics, there really is something for everyone. We encourage every student to find at least one club or activity to be part of—and many of our Hornets find far more than one! It's where students discover new interests, build friendships, develop leadership skills, and, sometimes, find their place in the HIVE

What a difference a few weeks can make! 🐝🧡🖤

There are still a few construction details and finishing touches to work through at Richland Center Intermediate School, but it’s already looking SO good—and the new lunchroom might just be our favorite part! 😍

We especially love all the little "Hives" hidden throughout the space. 🐝🐝🐝

We hope our RCIS Hornets are loving their new space as much as we do! 🧡🖤

🚌 Transportation Update

We want to make families aware that one of our school buses was involved in an accident this morning. We can confirm that no students were seriously injured, and all students are being safely transported to their school buildings.

We sincerely appreciate the quick response by all emergency personnel on the scene this morning (9/3/2026) and will continue working with them to gather additional information. We appreciate everyone's patience as we make sure our students are safe and that families have the information they need. 🧡🐝
