An “unprecedented” situation was taking hold in Orange County on Friday, as a chemical tank was at risk of spewing a highly toxic chemical that can cause severe respiratory distress and hospitalization, officials said.

Thank you Northwestern Fire District. Raymond OH and Invenergy for allowing our team the opportunity to deliver our solar emergency response training!

This course focused on emergency response considerations for both fire and EMS response to solar operations. A combination of lecture and hands-on training allowed for an opportunity to learn how to safely navigate solar farms during potential emergencies.

We apologize for not posting many training photos over the past month, but it was our busiest month EVER!! Get ready for a photo dump featuring some of the training and exercises we have been part of during the last 30 days.

To kick things off, we would like to thank our long time friends at Ashland Fire and Ashland County EMA for allowing us to be part of their NFPA 1006 Structural Collapse training. Check out these photos out! What a great group!!

Training for bad days starts with great instructors.
Monday Meet the Instructor: Dustin Lacy

Firehouse Facts:
🚒 Specialty: Hazmat- atmospheric metering, vehicle extrication and rope rescue technician.
🚨 Current Role: Full time with the City of Piqua Fire Department, currently serving as an Assistant Chief on shift in charge of fire training and operations. He holds a Paramedic certification along with fire and instructor certs. Dustin also serves as an Assistant Chief with the Miami County SORT team where my responsibility is especially focused on training and operations of the Hazmat team.
🧑‍🚒 Years of Fire/HazMat Experience: Began Fire service career in 2009. Have been with City of Piqua for 14 years, a Hazmat technician on the county team for 13 of those years, and a part of the teams leadership for the past 8 years.
🛠️ Favorite tool: TNT tool.

Rapid Fire Questions:
🍬 Favorite candy: dark chocolate, if that counts.... I don't eat candy mostly lol
🐶 Pets: GSP (bird dog) named Lace

What a weekend and what a day in Athens County!! Two full scale Hazmat LEPC exercises. We are grateful for our friends in Athens and Athens County for this opportunity! Richland Area Fire Dept. led the response side and crushed it! Thank you to all that took time to volunteer their Sunday to be part of this exercise. Athens County has some really great first responders!
