Sheriff's Association License plate- Support Your Local Sheriff

Sheriffs Association License Plate

Utah Sheriffs Association is launching a Utah license plate to support programs that strengthen public safety and community-focused initiatives across the state. Preorders help us meet the requirements to begin plate production.

Official plate design to be determined upon DMV approval.

How contributions will be used
Contributions raised through this specialty license plate program will be used to support Utah Sheriffs Association initiatives that benefit communities statewide, including:

Advanced training for sheriffs and deputies to ensure Utah’s law enforcement leaders have the skills and resources needed to respond to evolving public safety challenges.
Leadership development programs that prepare the next generation of sheriff’s office leaders and strengthen collaboration among law enforcement agencies statewide.
Scholarships and educational opportunities that support students pursuing careers in public service, law enforcement, and community leadership.
Community outreach and public education programs that build stronger relationships between sheriffs’ offices and the communities they serve.
Statewide coordination and professional development through the Utah Sheriffs Association, helping sheriffs share best practices, improve operations, and strengthen public safety throughout Utah.

Preorder Requirement & Submission Instructions
A minimum of 500 completed TC-203 (New Utah Special Group Plate Application) preorder forms, along with all applicable fees, must be submitted directly to the organization sponsoring the special group plate.
How to preorder the plate (TC-203):

Download and complete Form TC-203 (New Utah Special Group Plate Application).
Submit your completed TC-203 to the Utah Sheriffs Association (not the DMV during the preorder phase).
Include all applicable fees (by check) with your preorder submission. The initial contribution fee is $25 per license plate set order.
After the preorder threshold and approvals are met, we will provide instructions for final plate issuance through the Utah DMV.

Where to send your TC-203 & payment:

Mail: Utah Sheriffs Association, P.O. Box 2816, SLC, Utah 84110

Note: Please do not submit preorder forms to the Utah DMV during the preorder phase—forms and fees must be submitted directly to the Utah Sheriffs Association.
Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the Utah Sheriffs Association need preorders?
Utah law requires a minimum of 500 completed preorder applications before a new specialty license plate can move forward. Once this threshold is reached and all requirements are satisfied, the Utah DMV can begin the process of issuing the plate.

When will the license plate be available?
The plate will become available once:

The required 500 preorder applications are submitted.
The state approval process is completed.
The Utah DMV begins plate production.

Updates will be posted on this page as progress milestones are reached.

Who should I contact with questions?
For questions about preorder applications, submission instructions, or the license plate program, email Jessica Stewart: [email protected]

How do I obtain a verification form?
The Utah Sheriffs Association specialty license plate does not have eligibility restrictions. Any individual who wishes to support the Utah Sheriffs Association may apply for the plate.
Because the plate is open to the public, a verification form is generally not required to obtain the plate. If verification documentation is requested during the application process, applicants may contact the Utah Sheriffs Association for assistance.
Contact for verification questions:Email: [email protected]

What happens if the 500 preorder applications are not reached?
Utah law requires a minimum of 500 completed TC-203 applications and associated fees before a new specialty license plate can move forward to production.
If the Utah Sheriffs Association does not reach the required 500 applications, the specialty plate program will not move forward and the applications will not be submitted to the Utah DMV. In that case, the Utah Sheriffs Association will notify applicants and provide instructions regarding the return and handling of submitted fees.

My envelope was returned and says the PO Box does not exist. What should I do?
Our PO Box number (819) was changed during this process. We apologize for the inconvenience.
If your envelope was returned, simply update the address and resend it to:PO Box 2816Salt Lake City, UT 84110
You may reuse the same envelope and postage—just be sure the new address is clearly written or covered with the updated label.

Do I submit my application to the DMV?
No. During the preorder phase, completed TC-203 forms and all applicable fees must be submitted directly to the Utah Sheriffs Association, the organization sponsoring the plate. Once the plate program is approved and production begins, the Utah DMV will handle future plate issuance and renewals.

What form do I need to complete?
You will need to complete the TC-203 – New Utah Special Group Plate Application.
Download the form, complete it, and submit it to the Utah Sheriffs Association with the required fees.

What is the initial fee for the specialty license plate?
The initial specialty plate fee is $25, which supports the Utah Sheriffs Association programs funded through the plate. Additional standard vehicle registration or plate fees may apply depending on your vehicle registration status.
Once the required preorder threshold is met and the plate is approved, the Utah DMV will issue the plate and collect the specialty plate fee as part of the registration process.

Light Festival

Important Update Regarding the Richfield Light Festival
Due to current high-risk fire conditions, local and state fire officials have advised against the lantern launch planned for Friday evening. This decision was not taken lightly, but the safety of our community will always come first.
As previously stated, all lantern sales are final.
While we share in disappointment, we are excited to still gather together for an incredible evening! The Richfield Light Festival will continue as planned, with activities including laser tag, inflatables, STEM activities, co****le, nine-square, music, dancing, and a variety of amazing food trucks. The night will end with a spectacular light show of fireworks that you won’t want to miss!
We truly appreciate your understanding and support. We can’t wait to celebrate with you and kick off spring together.
