Today, the Richfield Police Department was honored to welcome Julie Gotham, Executive Director of the Minnesota 100 Club, and Sheriff Dawanna Witt, Vice President of the Minnesota 100 Club, as they presented a financial donation to Sergeant Mario Leon and his family to support the recovery from injuries sustained in the line of duty.
On April 29, 2026, Sergeant Leon was shot while attempting to apprehend a fleeing suspect. As Sergeant Leon continues his recovery, we are deeply grateful for the support shown by the Minnesota 100 Club and its commitment to Minnesota’s first responders and their families.
The Minnesota 100 Club provides critical financial assistance to the families of first responders who are seriously injured or killed while protecting and serving our communities. Their support extends to city, county, state, and federal first responders who are injured or lose their lives in the line of duty within Minnesota.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the Minnesota 100 Club for standing beside our officers and their families during challenging times. Their generosity serves as a powerful reminder of the strong support network behind Minnesota’s public safety professionals.
