During Harvest Festival, we’re celebrating a very special milestone: the 20th Anniversary of the Empire State Carousel!

Join us this Saturday at 2:00 PM in front of the carousel as we celebrate two decades of artistry, history, and the countless rides and memories made along the way.

And because no 20th birthday is complete without something sweet, there will, of course, be cupcakes! 🧁

Come celebrate this beloved piece of Fenimore Farm with us during Harvest Festival, September 12.

Mark your calendars for Friday, September 18, 2026! Mohawk Valley Gives is just ten days away, and we’re raising $15,000 to launch the design phase for a new energy-efficient HVAC system. Modern climate control will protect our irreplaceable historical collections and keep our space welcoming year-round. Thanks to a grant from Oneida County, most expenses are covered—but we need you to help us bridge the final gap. Visit our MV Giving-Day profile at https://www.givemv.org/organizations/oneida-county-history-center to learn more.

Group 1 Class dates
09/17 to 10/08

Group 2 Class dates
10/15 - 11/05

Please register online at www.smithyarts.org, ahead of the first class so we know if there is room for everyone!

Class Description:

We’re coming into mask wearing / halloween time of year!
Come make masks and faces with clay where we will explore different methods of hand building and sculpting. Each week we will cover new techniques from forming the clay (pinching, rolling out, coiling) to surface decoration (carving, drawing, painting, glazing).  Students will learn the essentials and be guided to follow their imaginations through the intuitive tactile process. At the end of the 4 weeks students will not only take home their own creations of art but leave with a new avenue of self expression and an understanding of the creative potential of clay. We hope you’ll come join us!

*This program was initially made possible with public funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and administered by The Earlville Opera House.

After an off-season in storage, “Song” by Dorothy Riester (1996) has returned to the land.

For many years, the sculpture stood on the hilltop. Last fall, it left the park for “Post Scholam,” an exhibition of Syracuse University VPA alumni at the VPA Warehouse Gallery

This summer, “Song” was restored and installed along the entrance road, where you’ll see it on your way in.

Same Song. Different view.
