Employee Spotlight: Kell Benson – Chester County Director of Emergency Services

This month, Chester County is proud to recognize Kell Benson, Director of Emergency Services, for his professionalism, leadership, and calm strength in moments when our residents need it most.

Kell recently received a heartfelt nomination from a fellow Chester County resident who commended him for the way he handled a medical emergency with compassion, confidence, and steady guidance. During a stressful and frightening situation, Kell remained calm, professional, and reassuring while talking the resident through the emergency and helping them navigate a difficult moment.

In emergency services, every second matters — but so does the way people are treated during those critical seconds. Kell’s ability to remain composed, provide clear direction, and offer reassurance reflects the very best of public service. His actions are a powerful reminder of the important role our emergency services professionals play in protecting, supporting, and caring for our community.

As Director of Emergency Services, Kell carries a tremendous responsibility, and his dedication is evident not only in major emergencies, but also in the personal, one-on-one moments when residents are looking for help, guidance, and hope. His professionalism, strength, and commitment to serving others continue to make a meaningful difference across Chester County.

Thank you, Kell, for your leadership, your dedication, and your unwavering service to the residents of Chester County. We are grateful for all that you do and proud to have you on our team!

This month, Richburg Fire partnered with the L & C railroad for train training. L & C provided training on locomotive familiarization, extrication, shut off points and patient extraction points. Crews practiced removing a victim through a window via a ladder. We thank L & C for this great learning opportunity!

We cherish our relationship with our public safety partners at 911, law enforcement, EMS and EMA. We have experienced several accidents this year where our Chester County Deputies assisted us with some challenging rescues. This past weekend Deputy Threatt acted immediately in the rescue of a driver in an accident. Great job Deputy Threatt!

Our annual car show is coming up June 20th. This is one our fundraiser for the Richburg Community Firefighters Association. The Association raises funds to support the mission of the fire department through equipment acquisitions, recruitment and retention and community risk reduction. How can you help?

1. Consider donating an entry prize. We are looking for gift certificates, car wash supplies or other goodies that go to car show participants as prizes. Reach out to us if you’d like to donate!

2. Enter a vehicle. Masters Car Club always sponsors a first class show. Have a vehicle you want to show off? Register for the show!

3. Come support us! We will have educational material, music and lots of great cars to watch.
