In celebration of National Poetry Month, the library would like to announce the winner of this year's annual Haiku Contest. Congratulations to Henry Schaefer, a junior majoring in physics, for the winning entry! You can see him pictured with his winning "swag bag" filled with library- and school-related goodies: pens and pencils, notebooks, a sticky pad with book flags, and more.

Congratulations, Henry! We wish to thank you and all the other participants for your very creative submissions this year. To those returning for classes, we hope to see you participate in the 2026 contest.

Celebrate National Poetry Month in April by participating in the library's annual Haiku Contest.

Rules: UTD students only. Submit your library-themed haiku (3 lined poem: 1st line 5 syllables, 2nd line 7 syllables, 3rd line 5 syllables) from your UTD email to [email protected] with the subject line 'Haiku Contest 2025.'

The prize will be a swag bag of library- and school-related goodies and massive bragging rights. 😉

The deadline for all submissions is Apr. 9th. The winner will be announced Apr. 16th.

Congratulations, Carson Ramsey, a junior in BBS studying psychology, for winning this year's annual Haiku Contest! Last week, Carson came to the library to retrieve her prize and to get her photo snapped in front of the contest poster. The winning haiku is as follows:

In honor of National Poetry Month, the library is holding its annual Haiku Contest. The rules are as follows. Only currently enrolled UTD students are eligible. Using their UTD email, students can submit poems that must be library-themed and in the haiku format (3 lines: 5/7/5 syllable structure) to [email protected]. Poems will be accepted until the deadline of Apr. 15th. A winner will be announced on Apr. 22nd. The prize will consist of a 'swag bag' of school- and library-related materials along with bragging rights.
